Default ZZR600 as a "sport touring" bike

Hey there,

I currently ride a GSXR 600 and a Ninja 500. I wantto go on overnighters, but I don't think I can handle riding my GSXR for a long stretch of time due to the riding position, and my Ninja 500 is a bit too slow. I've been reading up on sport touring bikes, but the weight and height is too much for me.

How does the ZZR600 compare to an '07 GSXR 600 in regards to the riding position? And, is it just as quick asmy GSXR and fun to ride through the canyons?

I'm glad that I stumbled on this forum for ZZR600. This m/c never crossed my mind for some reason. Maybe I'm just lame..hah!hah! Anyway, tomorrow I'll swing by a dealership and checkone out.

Thanks

The Ninja 500 makes a great tourer, and you shouldn't need that extra speed for a XC run anyway. But if ya wanna check out the ZZR its basically an older generation sportbike so it has plenty of speed for you and the riding position is more relaxed, closer to the 500, plus I havent seen a color that looks bad on it. Go sit on one and tell us how it goes. Welcome to KF!

What is wrong with adjusting your rearsets, and getting the suspension dialed in on the GSXR?

Thanks for the replies. I guess I could adjust the rearsets if I only knew what you were talking about...sorry. When I find out what it is, what will adjusting the rearsets do for my ride? When I take my GSXR for service, I'll have them adjust the suspension. I find the suspension to be a bit stiff. I'm bouncing when I ride.

I went to a dealership and sat on a ZZR600 and it felt and looked great. I was quite surprised. I thought it would be too tall and heavy. However, I did find myself stretching a bit more to grab the handles.Maybe I'm not tall enough, or need longer arms....Anyway, the salesmandid tell me that they are not bringing in any more ZZR600, Ninja 500, and some other m/cafter this year due to the strict emission controls here in CA.

On a side note, I know I can do a search but could you just tell me yes or no. Do they sell an aftermarket cowl to cover the passenger seat? And, there are other aftermarket exhausts that I can slip on right? I'm not looking into any specific brands or anything at the moment. As long as I know that I can change out the stock exhausts.

Thanks

AS FAR AS THE QUIKNESS AND SPEED OF THE ZZR IT DEPENDS ALOT ON THE RIDER BUT I HAVE AN '05 ZZR600 AND I RIDE W/ A 06 HONDA 600RR AND AN 06 GSXR 600 AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING THAT I CAN'T. GRANTED WE'RE NOT DRAG RACING OR SCRAPING KNEES EVERYWHERE WE GO BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AND I HAVE NO PROBLEMS HANGING RIGHT WITH THEM BUT MOST OF THE TIME I'M THE GUY LEADING THE PACK.

I ride with my brothers all the time and they both have 06 gsxr 600's. I hang in pretty well with the stock one, but one of them will toast me after mods. In the twisties I usually take the lead after setting up the suspension right

hmm, stock rearsets are not adjustable. A few bucks to get adjustable pegs. Suspension can be that way as well. Not steering you away from you notions either, but suspension and rearsets are cheaper than another ride.

The ZZR is the most comfortable sport bike I've ever sat on!
