Default Oil Change Questions

I have 1500 miles on my 08 ZZR600 and getting ready for another oil change. I was considering going with Amsoil synthetic. Is it too soon to start using synthetic? I have heard that you should wait a while but can't remember how long. Also, looking for recomendations on oil filter brand?

Thanks,

I used Castrol semi-synthetic at 2000 miles and it seems to be doing just fine 700 miles later, for the filter I got a Kawasaki. I don't see why you would have to wait to use synthetic.

You should be good to change to full/semi-synthetic. And I'm probibly wrong but I'm fairly certain that in order to get your cylinders/gaskets, etc. to seal up tight and "run" more smoothly. And as for the oil filter I haven't heard anyone get too excited about it. I think if you go KAWI you'll be alright.

I used amsoil this time because my local castrol supplier moved...it seems okay but I liked the castrol R4 better.

What have you found to be the best oil filter wrench for getting in from the front? Channel locks worked but I want to pick up a filter wrench.

I bought the OEM filter wrench cup from Kawi, although a bit pricey.

I use K&N filters usually, and they have the nut on the end.

Nice idea with the nut! K&N is what I'm going with next time. And only a buck more than the Kawi.
