oil, filter, plugs

oil, filter, plugs
just picked up some Rotella T 5w40.
i have a fram cartridge in the garage, but i'm thinking about upgrading (?) to a scott's billet filter. any thoughts or advice? i'm riding in socal. 19k on the bike, cold starts and mostly local riding. want this motor to last, so i don't want to put bunk oil or filters on her. no point in dropping cash on the bike, insurance and maintenance and then feeding her cheap oil/filters. gimme your thoughts, i know it's all opinion. i got no beef shopping at walmart if that's where the goods are at.
also, what spark plugs y'all recommend. my owners manual recommends the NGK, but that book is 7 years old.
i'm looking for solid, reliable performance; don't need to break the land speed record and sacrifice driveability or durability, but i don't want to pay for bunk either.
thanks,
philo

RE: oil, filter, plugs
On the ZRXOA.com site this is a contraversial topic
I use the Kawasaki oil filter. I know some guess that have over 100,000 on their bikes running the stock filter with no problems.
As for the plugs, I went to the NGK C9E I want to say a few years ago with no ill effects

RE: oil, filter, plugs
I agree with what ZBike said about the Scott's filter. As for plugs, I've been using the stock NGK C9EK. I've changed them twice since I've had my bike. I use OEM oil filter, and have been running Mobil 1 15w-50 since 5400 miles.
BTW, mines an '01 with 56k on it. These motors a just about bullet proof. They can take a beating. Like Zbike says, there a few guys over at the ZRXOA that have over 100k on the motors and still running strong. One guy turbo'd his at 80k. Has about 112k now. Another guy has about 140k.
If you have any other questions or problems, don't be afraid to ask.
