'96 ZX-6R doesn't seem to want to wheelie
I just got a 96 ZX-6R, and I just wanted to see if I could lift the front tire off the ground a bit, and it doesn't seem like it even has the power. It's pretty weak down low, but I'll let it go up to about 6-7K and roll on the power quick, and it just accelerates. The only time I've felt the wheel lift off the ground was doing the same thing going up the fairly sttep hill to my house. I have been riding dirtbikes for a long time, and even my old 200cc 4-stroke trail bike can wheelie in 2nd gear. What gives?
Also, I watched the Superbike wheelie video, and tried dropping the clutch. Although every bike is different, I did just about what the guy did in the video, and pulled the clutch at about 5K and revved to 9-10K and dropped it, and nothing. I don't know if the clutch is slippig a bit, but it just kinda revved down and I accelerated, without the tire leaving the ground. Am I just a novice who needs to learn the limitations of his own bike a bit more, or does it sound like my old bike has lost some juice? ****....

That would be a 600 E, right? My D had a similar issue when I had it... only way to wheelie it was just like with the zx7... run it hard up to about 5500 or 6000 - wherever your powerband starts to kick in - get off the gas and then right back on - hard - but not wide open. She will come up. Be careful... and be ready to replace fork seals after you learn... they were not so good on the D and E.

when I had my 96 a little while ago I had the same problem, But I didn't want to use my clutch and burn it out. change sprockets, down 1 in front and up 4 in rear, you'll lose about 15 mph at top speed and it will throw your speedo off a little, but I still had no prblem going 130 mph before getting too close to redline and that was fast enough for me on 2 wheels. if the speedo is a prblem you can get it calibrated. but after I was able to get it up in 1st no matter what rev I was at and in 2nd with just a little hop, but never a clutch. BEE VERY CAREFUL.IT WILL COME UP AND IT WILL BE QUICK!!!!!!!

Try cleaning your carbs and a tune up, mine was running really crappy when I first got it (still is actually LOL) but one day for some strange reason after I change the oil I think I was in second gear but I wacked the throttle as normal (not tryin to wheelie with less that 200mi total exp under belt)and the front end came up on me, it was only 3 or 4 feet but it scare the sht outta me, funny thing was some little kids saw me and every time I rode down the street after that the would be yellin DO A WHEELIE!!!! little did they know I almost split my melon open (no gear at all DUMB)

my 95 is the same way. i do suspect that the carbs could use a good dyno tuning, but i don't know where around here to get that done let alone the cost.
