whitey bike update. yay.
been a while..
figured i'd post what little progress i made with my hoopty over the winter.
turbo motor still in the works.. spare motor secured, head work started, factory pro adjustable cam gears ready to go in.. waiting to be able to afford JE slugs (somewhere between 9.5-10.25:1 static CR) .. if i can spare an extra $600 i'll do Ti retainers and kibblewhite springs.. bump redline to 13K. if i get an extra $1050, carillo H beams.. lol stock rods i hear are insane tho. this comes from a few of the worlds leading builders, including Doug Meyer, who i know personally (the man behind the Muzzy Raptor) .. gonna try to keep the boost build simple and shoot for a conservative 280CHP/250WHP. i want the new record for ECTA in the MPS750F/G class (land speed racing) i'm coming for ya, suzuki!!
turbo will probably be a T25 with a .45 A/R.. stainless header (i'll mke this), 2G DSM SMIC under the tank 5086 aluminum sheet airbox awith carbon fiber bits (i'll make this too..)
need something to put my new pulsed TIG and plasma cutter to use on!
as for current news, mercedes benz SL500 HID projetors ( H/L beam, worth $1200 a piece.. i have 2.. ) factory pro ign rotor ( set at +4*) lots of lil CF stuff i made (finally finished that dash!) muzzy aluminum fan blade, uber polish on exposed chassis, painted swinger where not exposed, drilled carb slides (.024") LED taillight.. frenched the light flush with the tail. uh.. i think thats it.
pics.
a solid honest month of sanding and polishing. a MONTH.
freshened the motor up a bit
drilled the pedals out on a CNC. made a shifter cuz i never had one.. shifter was a manual lathe deal.
making the shifter.. 6061-T6511 1.00" roundstock turned down to i think .690" or something goofy like that. knurled, grooved and tapped on lathe. think it took like, 15 or 20 minutes.. love getting paid to make parts for my bike. .lol

plastics were pretty beat.. massive repairs were done thanks to Rod n Race fiberglass who was, at the time, right next to the shop. pics of mintyness in a while..
painting subframe
pressing swinger for paint and polish
start of assembly
temp subframe fitment to make sure everythings kosher
minty
finally got that damn CF dash done..lol
fiberglassed to hell and back.

pt 3
old dash
new dash.. yes.. i probably have the worlds only 7-R with a gas gauge.. lol
drilling slides. (ancient chinese speesd secret)
love me some dremel action
hole is at 12 o'clock
frenched taillight. ever since i did this, i notice on kawasakis how far the taillight sticks out.. nasty!
don't mind that 2" hole in the plastic. that was an experiment that failed.
a lil choppy chop weld action. i HATE flux core, but thats all i had at the time.
close fit
test fitting the intercooler.. seeing what mods i need to make.. don't need to do much!! spin the outlet and form a pan to direct ram-air air thru the core... fab up a lil two piece airbox and a diffuser for hot air.
IC is a 2G DSM side mount from an eclipse
starting to fab the airbox.. the baseplate plasma'd out of .090" 5086
free stuff is the best.. especially when it's an ultra rare, very expensive Titanium brake pedal and a ZX7-RR exhaust bracket.
the pedal is so light it almost floats.

gratuitous head shot teaser.. bowl work on the turbo motor. mild polishing on the intake.. VERY mild.. uber polish on the exhaust.. who cares about laminar flow on the hot side!
muzzy blade. so nice. got this, the M-B HIDs, upper fairing stay, and some misc parts for a steal of a price from my homey in pheonix.
probably my favorite mod.. SL500 35 watt HID projectors.
they are so bright that i can light up street signs damn near 1/2 mile away.. fist 50' is like daylight.. on LOW beam. 200' on high beam is gorgeous.. 1/4 mile visibility. and they're set to b=not main passerbys on low beam.
i have not had ONE single person pull out in front of me (accidentally) because they didn't see me. not one. i've had a few ******** cut me off or intentionally pull in front of me.. when i flip the H beam on, they hate life.
lights are worth $1200 a piece.. bulbs are $120 a piece. (osram D2S)
H beam solenoids
rough install, unpainted
painted, final install and assembly
hot sex time.. from almost 50' away, low beam, before tweaking light aim.
like daylight.
a lil custom harness fab action..
temp install before taking it all home and assembling in house.. literally.. in the house.. lol
at the house.. playing withthe lighting setup.. had to build a sub harness. the inrush made the lights flicker.. any time you have flicker on HID it'll kill the bulbs and ballasts in a few minutes. as expensive as these things are, i take no chances.. ran 10ga. from the battery theu a relay and to the ballasts.. used the stock headlight low beam as a control voltage source. tied a diode in to keep the power relay on when on high beam but keep the h. beam solenoids closed when in low beam.. l/h is a flip-flop circuit. one is on, the other off.
diode
this is what i did.. behold the wicked MS paint skills and an electrical engineering degree.
entire gauge/light assembly
a lil test fit action

stripped nekkid for paint
would ya believe it's spray-bomb? duplicolor DSM340 royal blue..( also known as FM340X)
the engine on the stand is a ford 460. was going to go in a project mustang that my pops and i had planned ( 520CI with an 8-71 blower) but he passed shortly after my build was done.. we will never get to build the car. my turbo bike will be a dedication to him.
little CF tag bracket i scored off a busa i rebuilt for shows.. hand fabbed the aluminum piece holding it.
for the longest time, i rode without a current, registered tag.. thus why i'm no stranger to outrunning cops.. lol
well, this time, i'm legal eagle!!
looky!! legit baby!
annndddd.. paint.. together.. running.. finally.
still have a ton of little things.. fuel pump failed on me a week ago.. started leaking at the housing seam.. no fix.. what sucks is i saved the pump a week BEFORE.. the contacts welded themselves together and broke under the "weld".. the arc eroded the contacts and function ceased in the middle of the road.. good thing there was no traffic behind me and a parkinglot i could cruise into.. and it wasn't on the interstate.
also had the heelguard just plain fell lthe hell off sitting still.. lol.. wtf? ya.. so.. once i get some 4043 rod and gas for the TIG rig, i'll weld up the rear sets, mill and tap two small threaded holes, and make myself some wicked carbon fiber heelguards.
i really can't wait for the turbo to be done.. this bike is going to be alot of fun. it turns some heads now.. i get asked to sell it every day.. lol
thanks for your time. hope ya liked a glimpse into the world of a motorcycle mechanic/EE workin his craft on his own pile. lol

yessir! the t-bird is going to a buddy along with the 351W behind the BBQ grill. hit a deer.. couldn't find parts.. thats when my pops found the 92 LX.. we scored a junkyard 460 and my pops goes and has a massive brain aneurisym.. go figure.
i just don't have the money to build either car.. i will build the turbo bike and do a factory five GTM kit car (twin turbo) in his memory tho.
little gray LX is a NA 4 banger.. woulda been alot of fun with 750HP.

sorry to hear about your pops, I have a buddy that has one every since i can remember and he was rushed to the hospital a couple times, but pulled through. I haven't seen him in over 7 years and then a one day he just appeared. Your bike is going to be crazy man, so are the bigblocks

thanks man.. the BB is going into my buddy's 64 galaxie.. had a 65 falcon but i think he sold it.. the 351 will go in the t-bird. might end up building a turbo system and stroking/boring to 408 on that one.. depends on if the dude's money is right!!
hes buying the car and short block 351 for $1000.. not bad.. if parts weren't impossible to find, i'd consider the build myself.. but he works at a body shop.. that'll give him somethin to do!
as for pops.. it pretty much killed him instantly.. he was alive when i got to the hospital, but solely on default functions. he was already too braindamaged to recover, even with surgery. the plug was pulled 11am sept 24th. one of the hrdest things i've ever gone thru. and i've been thru alot more than most people have.
Gerald.. i do love the frame!! the only problem is that it is a maintenance nightmare!! i've already considered anodizing.. i've never seen an anodized frame before.. why not be the first, ya know!? lol.. that or a nice candy translucent powdercoat.. after all.. it's already polished, and your coating is only as good as your base metal's finish!
