aww man.. i can see the resepct i might have going RIGHT down the drain.. LOL

not a squid, NOT a SQUID!! lmao..
ok..

how bout the time i dumped a brand new RC-51 with 950 miles on it?
too much front brake and EBC HH pads.. uber stopping power..

THAT sucked..
haven't rode another RC since.. lol

put my 600 into a tree once.. upside-down, at 50mph. hit salt whilst dragging a knee.
vividly remember the inverted (literally wheels-up) bike flying 1' off the ground as i bounced and flipped my was across the remainder of the apex and into a barbed wire fence..

THAT sucked...

got up, flipped the bike over (off the tree it came to rest on), removed the tank, pushed the carbs back on the boots, and rode home! with a HUGE dent in the tank and my ego, muzzy, and tail section battered.

also vividly recall the first sportbike wheelie. well, not the first, but the first that came more than 4" off the ground. the result of that one was 12-ing my bike, landing flat on my feet, and watching the bike roll down the road, perfectly balanced on the back wheel for about 20'... without me.

it fell to the throttle side, then high-sided itself to the clutch side.

totalled.
bent the subframe, front rim, shattered all the plastic, and ripped the trigger coil and its cover off. sheared the rool pin behind th trigger coil rotor, throwing the ignition timing out..

(this caused a 15 hour troubleshoot and tune when i rebuilt the motor for the next bike..)

THAT sucked..

still have the bike. repaired the motor, and bought another 6 to replace it of the same model (with a blown motor) for cheap.. have 2 crunchy 600s now i gotta fix..lol

i remember running from the cops on a few occasions.. i'll say you CAN outrun motorola.(DO NOT CONDONE!!!! DO NOT CONDONE!!)

passed a statey at 135 while dragging a knee.. LOL.. never saw me again.

did an illegal u-ey at an intersection.. didn't see "the man" across the street (i had to yield, giving me time to make a choice..).. made a left, forcing him to made the first move.. he came straight across to pull a u-turn and get me.. i went left. got it to 60, and pulled the clutch in and drifted a few blocks in silence.. that muzzy was loud..lol never saw me again.

ghosted a Va state boy on 65 once.. he never saw me again. BUT... karma man.. karma.. on that trip i was run off the road in NC by the state boy in a camaro for 117 in a 70 zone on I 40. went to jail on that one.

THAT sucked...

first time in jail.. posted a G and got the F outta there (with no money and pinkeye from that nasty-*** cell... still battling them, and that was years ago.. (over my ailment, tho!! [i'd hope.. right!])

made a 20 minute trip in 7 1/2 minutes for 3 nights in a row.

sustained a solid 160+.

THAT was (stupid as hell) fun...

watched a good friend go down in a corner in front of me.. almost hit him.

THAT sucked...

he was o.k. tho.. we picked his bike up, and continued on our ride!

watched a harley ride off the road into a hillside

watched a guy almost flip his trike trying to show off in a corner.. put it up on the side wheels..

both these guys had passengers.
i think the triker was ebinbriated...

harley dude was fine, and never (thank God) dropped it

THAT sucked, not for me, but the passengers..
had me scared too tho.. just out of compassionate concern for my fellow bikers.

watched guys pass be at 120.. on one wheel. alot.

saw the aftermath of a fellow rider after he had met a gaurdrail. not his fault. he was t-boned and subsequently splattered across 20' of rail. God rest him.

solemn remeinder...

had good friends get killed recently.

had good friends ride with me.

had good friends finally get a bike and find out what its like.

i yelled at that big, ugly guy.. (MAN, that was so fun!! see Mr. KX's road rage post..)

i have seen the most gorgeous views and ridden the most untamed twisties.

had gorgeous women with tig-ol bitties (on my back..lol) on my bike

i have had a red tailed hawk escort me, 10' above my head, for almost 1/4 mile. that was amazing and inspirational.

i have drifted my 600 on purpose, (ALOT) and it saved my life more than once.

that started with my first bike.. a '95 suzuki savage. (cruiser!!)

i learned to ride on the gravel backroads in indiana county in Pa.
learning on such terrain, i developed a knack for slide control.

on a trip from pittsburgh to WV, i was travelling the Pa turnpike, and just outside of somerset, pa, the road goes thru the allegheney mountain via a tunnel. its december. its cold.

theres a somewhat sharp, consistent radius turn at the exit bout 100 yards out from the tunnel.. leads ya into the potomac river watershed and the valley behind said mountain.

i didn't know (while riding my wheezy thumper at 70mph) that they had laid a fresh patch of pavement down at this apex.

upon exiting the tunnel (in the left lane) i immediately noticed the blacktop.. thought nothing of it, but lessened my throttle slightly prepping or the turn.

Wow man.... thats some crazy stuff... i havent ridden that much street to have that much stuff happen to me..... I do know what drifting feels like, i love to do it in the dirt, so when it happens on the street i know how to deal with it, a good way to learn how to deal with alot of that stuff, is take a dirt bike out in the snow, thats when you can feel both wheels sliding, I feel i have a quicker reaction time than the normal street biker, because of my past and how much two wheeled dirt action i have done, when im on a bike it just feels natural. Whats this look where you want to go crap...... thats BS.... i can look anywhere i want and wont go there, on either bike..... Sand is fun to rid in too.... I have lowsided my klx countless times, i think one of the funniest times i ended up off the bike is when the wheels slid down the trail to the lowest point where there was a 1' deep washed out ditch from water, the bike stopped stayed upright and i went over the bars... and i get up and turn around and theres my bike standing upright still..... it was a **** to get outta there.....

Damn, can't load.Hey Kawi, A squid is actually a rider usually new, trying to ride over thier head with arms and legs flying off the bike. Hence, like a squid lin the water.
never heard that one - to me a squid was general an irresponsible rider because when they wreck they look like a squid

I always thought the term squid was for the non-gear wearingguys and girls with a teeshirt, no helmet and shorts, riding with no regard for any kind of safety. I guess I'm just getting too old to understand all this newfangled lingo

'Squid' is a contraction of "Squirrelly Kid", and comes from So Cal racers who were also involved in the Surfer culture.

Though the term is now widely used to describe street riders of questionable cornering skill, questionable judgement in demonstrations of horsepower and braking, questionable judgement in the protective clothing worn, and very questionable judgement in his/her friends, the meaning was actually developed at the racetrack.

Back in the day before trackdays (an organized event to allow anyone with a motorcycle and the price of admission to gain familiarity with a racetrack and learn to ride faster, more safely than on the street) were common and new racers frequently had no track experience - hence their unpredictable behavior and unsteady lines led to them being labelled "squirrelly", as unpredictable surfers (or surfing conditions or surfing equipment) were also called.

From there, the term made it to the canyons of Southern California (a popular means to risk one's hide while demonstrating riding skill at speeds well over the posted limit), then out to the rest of the world that reads about So Cal in magazines and apparently strives to be just like So Cal. "I really hate dealing with the street squids riding over their heads in the 'A' group at Buttonwillow."

"That trackday org is all about getting money from the squids who don't know better."

"Yeah, there was another squid taken off Palomar in an ambulance this morning."
