1978 KZ1000, used once
On December 30 1978 a young man walked into Kawasaki Motorcycle World located in Lindenhurst NY. He purchased a brand new 1978 KZ1000 LTD in the red color. I am looking at the original bill of sale, and the KZ cost $3,695.00 plus tax for a total of $3,928.65.
He took the new bike out for a relaxing ride upstate and had a minor accident. He brought the bike home and went back to Kawasaki Motorcycle World and purchased the brand new parts needed to repair his brand new motorcycle. He put the boxes of parts right next to his new KZ1000 in his garage and never touched the bike or the parts again, they sit in that exact place at this very moment.
My friend was nearing the end of his life and knew it was coming so he signed the original title and gave it to me to do with whatever I wanted. He passed away a few months ago and I just got up the nerve to talk about this bike.
I am a biker but the Harley type. I could bring this bike to my garage and clean out the carbs, change the oil, put on new rubber and ride it but I am also a collector and realize the value this bike may have to someone who is love with this model and type of motorcycle so I have not touched this bike yet. If I heard of an untouched 1969 Mustang I would jump at it so I offer this bike up here first as this forum is dedicated to Kawasaki owners.
This is not a hoax, this bike exists on Long Island in New York. The first question will be How Much? I do not know but I will offer it to the highest bidder, my guess is over $8000.00 and I am in no hurry whatsoever.
Thank you for listening and I hope this bike finds the right person.

Wow.....well first of all sorry about your friend, and welcome to the site. You need to post a couple of pics so we can see what it is you are dealing with. Oh and where are you now? Are you still in NY? If you need me too I can post the pics if you e-mail them to me. Otherwise you can host them on Photo bucket. Here are my work and home e-mail addresses.
