Yes it is not a problem; the kit is about 60-100 bucks. It will lower the rear and then you can lower the forks down through the triple clamp. Just have to set your SAG, and you will be good to go. You should be able to get the bike to a comfortable height but probably not flat footed, who cares though, as long as when you stop you can easily support the bike you are good.

Yeah if you go to www.58cycle.com and look at the 636 section it will list the lowering links. lowering the front forks and sag will work fine.
Now as for the high as s price they gave you, now that was for actually cutting down the front forks. The so called "proper" way. If you are going to be riding in the AMA then yes you must go all the way. lol But just for aggresive street riding give Notstock a call and he will do it for a six pack and a kiss on the, ahhhhhhhhhh, cheek. lol

I would go with what the guys said. Get a kit and go from there. Or why don't you check out the 650R, it isn't really any bigger than a 500. I'm only 5'4" and the 500 fits me perfectly.

I'll ride you on my bike, save your money.
How tall are you. I've seen a lot of short ladies on bikes and I'll bet you can get it done for less. Find someone who works on bikes that will work on the side and have them do it for you.

First of all, I'm not a big fan of lowered bikes at all. They always seem to ride worse, and the kickstands can be annoying as the person normally just grinded it shorter so that it could lean(not be vertical where it might tip). Places that lower a bike completely right will normally include a custom adjustable kickstand which often look sorta nicer than the stock ones. One bad thing about the 650r is there is gonna be almost no way to lower because of the way the shock is built into the frame. You know with dirtbikes, it always seems some of the best riders can never touch the ground on them with both feet. I mean I'm 6'3" and no where near this problem, but I used to have a KLR650 in highschool and I had no problems only touching the ground with one foot. Honestly I'd find a bike that fits you stock, as the manufacturers have put alot of work into the suspension geometry and it just works as it is.

actually most suspensions from the factory are way off for the average rider, unless you are 145-160. Any heavier or lighter and they are off.
I agree about the lowering and it not being as god of a ride but for normal street and the occasional twisty it should be fine.
Would probably suck at the track though or any hard canyon carving.

If she's got longer legs - the 650R will fit her no problem - no lowering necessary. The 650R has a seat height that is 15mm taller than the 500R. I have no problem getting flat footed on the 500 and I'm 100% positive that I would have no problem with the 650R and would not have to lower it.
Mind you if she has shorter legs than mine, well then, it'll be a different story.

so bluebird has long legs there you go guys lol. I agree with everyone on here either you could lower your bike or just find one out there you can touch one foot down good enough to hold you up while stoped. I always just use one foot and keep my other foot on the back brake.
