Worst day in my entire life....I want to die
so i'm out riding my new (1995) zx9-r)...i stop in at my friend zach's girlfriends house for about an hour...next thing i know, in walks her mom, asking me why my bike is laying down. I laugh, assuming she's joking...but her face is stern. i run outside to find that she is telling the 100% truth.
There i find my new baby....(which previously had not a scratch on her) laying on the left side. Immediatley i notice the shards of plastic from the broken windshield and turn signal. I yell for my friend and together we bring the bike up. It only gets worse...two ferrings are cracked, and scratched to hell...the mirror is busted, as is the shift lever, key, and a $400 Shoei helmet (that i was borrowing!!!)...i was freaking out...
I came to the conclusion that it was more upsetting that truely horrible. Ferrings could be replaced (or even sanded and filled) the windshield was cheap, and the other broken things were just odd PITA parts...so after calming down, i decide to take the bike back home....after some trouble, it starts....and i leave...only to notice that if i try to shift, the the shifter does nothing....only rotates 360 degrees around. So i ride home in first gear.
I get home and look at the bike a little closer. The lower part of the frame (where the shifter is) is cracked right in half. the shift asembly does nothing. So much for parts i can fix.
So now i am left with a bike that is frame damaged, has 2 cracked ferrrings, 1/2 a windshield, and countless other broken parts. Worst of all, my auto insurance will NOT cover it.
I think what angers me the most is that it really wasn't my fault. I would be better with it if i had dropped it while riding, or backed into it...or anything...then i could claim responsibilty. But to know that there is nothing i could have done pisses me off even more. ...i parked the bike on 100% even, dry blacktop...which by the way was the culprit....the heat (it wasnt too hot here in allentown) caused the blacktop to go soft, and the kickstand sank in, toppling the bike. I would usually put a small block underneath the kickstand....but i would never think to on even blacktop....
so right now my only hope is that my friends homeowners will cover it...its possible...their blacktop didn't support the bike....millions of people every day park their bikes on blacktop and they are fine...
...so sorry for the long rant...but i needed to let it out...i love my bike...i spent 90% of my savings buying it....i would go look at it in the garage at night because i couldnt believe it was mine....now i feel like dying.

dude, sorry to read about your bike. i and alot of other riders here feel the same way about their rides. LiL D, just went through something close to that. she got support from alot of people here. and you'll get the same support as well. dude as long as your ok, the bike could be fixed. go on ebay find your parts. most of it you could do your self. not quite sure about the frame. or what ever piece broke in half. but that could be fixed too. you'll be back on two wheels before you know it. if you have any questions, everyone here has some sort of answer. just speak up brother. she's be fixed. WOW!! that sux to no end!! Hey one question for you, the part of the frame that your talking about. Are you sure its the frame? The shifter is part of the rearset, and that connects to the frame by 2 mount bolts. Are the mount points broke or just the rearset.

so all in all...i need a new windshield, front and left ferring, left turn signal, left mirror, clutch lever, whatever the part of the frame is that attaches to the main frame down by the shifter (i call it a frame loosley, it's more like a plate or a piece of metal)...um....a new key (the key was in the rear seat opener when it fell...broke it right in half)...that's all i can think of for now...how much do you think we're talking...around $1000? (BTW...the pics really make it look easier then it is...the flash takes away a lot of the bad stuff...but both ferrings are actually cracked, not just scratched...

Dude, I feel for you. That bracket you broke looks EXACTLY like what mine looked like when it fell (which was two weeks ago) that bracket is only $71 brand new or ebay it for less. I can see about helping you out if you want cause I totally feel for you. I just went thru this, like I said but it was my brother in laws fault. I feel your anger (you can ask my mom, she said I was the biggest c*nt or b$tch in the whole world for those two weeks), but man trust me, take a deeeeepppp breath and it will be all good. I recommend ordering for the shift rear set the bracket, and the piece that holds the spring for the foot peg. Because the peice that holds the spring for the foogpeg could have taken a lot of abuse as well.
My friend can get parts at cost, and your in allentown, PA right? Not too far we can meet up half way if you want. I want to help out because I know what your feeling right now and it's not fun or enjoyable.
Just PM me!

OH and that rear set is not part of your frame. the Whole rear set will take you the most 20 minutes to replace, I did it myself, my only problem is that I'm weak (no muscles) but otherwise it was 1-2-3 easy.

Geez! That sucks! But it isn't the end of the world. Looks like it should be easy enough to fix though. Good luck with your repairs, you'll be out riding before you know it!
