RE: Uh oh...
Bill of sale for the 9 is being signed as I type this. If it isn't raining, I will be picking it up tonight, otherwise another day this week.
Also got a nice Teknic leather on sale for $200 and a matching HJC.
Picking those up at Chicago Cycle after work.
(green, obviously)

RE: Uh oh...
After two days of stewing about it, I sent a message to the would-be seller of the 7 yesterday, venting a bit... these first four paragraphs are my messages - broken due to ebay message limit. Afterwards is his response. Decent enough guy.
Rich, I have responded to the dispute with no comments and no contest so you can get your listing fee credited back to you. I also have not left any negative feedback and am not under any intention to. I have been laid up in bed all day yesterday on a heating pad and back pills due to a stiff ride, stiff clutch and bad seat in the truck. I want to discuss something with you, but I want you to understand and believe a couple things first... no matter the outcome of the discussion, I will not leave negative feedback as long as you do not, and I also want you to know I am not trying to make you look bad or anything like that. I have been thinking about the events that transpired, and I am just going to lay my cards out on the table, as nicely as I can, and then leave the ball in your court and you can do whatever you feel is best and fair. Again - the outcome of this will not change my stance on the dispute or cause me to leave neg feedback. Message limit is up - continued next msg.
I would be lying if I said I wasnt a bit bothered by this. On several occassions you emailed me saying the bike is good to go, dont worry about the trailer, ride to florida and back, etc. If it were me, the least I would have done was charge it and start it a day or two before so it was at least running upon arrival. I would have also filled up the tire (it was at 10psi), and most likely run it around the block to make sure it was in fact good to go, especially after sitting so long, at which time you would have discovered the clutch issue. As late as 8 or 9pm friday night it would have been worthwhile to call and let me know the clutch was out and to save the trip. I took you at your word that it was good to ride to florida, and set off on a trip across three states to pick up the bike. I called in many favors and shelled out some decent cash to go out to detroit on your word, but you hadn't really done much to back it up. Message limit... next one...
I called in many favors to do this trip on your word teh bike was good. I borrowed a truck from one friend, a hitch from another, rented the trailer from a 3rd ($30, cheaper than UHaul), got my friend Rob to go with me (24 hours of his time), and counted on yet another friend to stay friday night at her place in Lansing. I drove 660 miles round trip at an average of 20 miles a gallon (33 gallons) at an average cost of $2.20 a gallon ($72.60). All told, over a hundred bucks in gas, food and trailer rental... and I have absolutely nothing to show for it. I have even gone so far as to mutually agree on the dispute so you can get your listing charges and sale percentage back, to the tune of about 150 dollars.... continue more next message as this one is full
Now, I do not want to discuss, fight or argue... like I said - I am not like that and I am not looking to cause any bad blood between us. I am going to leave it in your court... I will leave you my paypal address, and if you want to put forth a good-faith effort, that would be great. If not - well - I will deal with it. It was a risk to me, and I lost out... but I only did it because your word told me there was no risk. I don't want to argue or debate about it... the only thing you have to argue with is your own conscience. I will leave it at that. my paypal is srobak@robak.net Do whatever you feel is right. Also - I do want to wish you luck on the bike... I have committed to my co-workers zx9 as of this morning. I will not sabotage your re-listing, regardless what what you decide to do with my paypal address. I don't work like that. I only ask you use due dilligence in the future so as not to waste people's time and money. Do what your conscience lets you live with.
here is his response...
I put up the dispute just to not pay the ebay seller fees for this item which is 200.00, If you read the dispute it says both parties agreed not to make the transaction. I will not leave negative feedback because I should have checked out the bike before I had you come out here. I apoligize for the trip and when I get word on the problem with the clutch I will let you know.
I do not have a problem with returning your trip money just tell me what you think is fair.
