Suzuki GS 1000 limited edition!
OK so here's the story. There is a guy in town that I might have mentioned before. He owns an auto electric shop, works by himself, and is literally a genius when it comes to electrical systems on vehicles. Anyway last year I was talking to him about my bike, and he started to tell me about some of the bikes that he has that have been in a huge 4 stall shop for years. Some of the bikes he hasn't even started in 10 years. This guy is only 6-8 years older than me, but he recently got divorced and it got him thinking about all the stuff he used to do.
Well yesterday we were over having dinner at a friends house, and my friends back yard neighbor is this guy, and we were talking again after a year about the bikes he has. He mentioned a 79 GS 1000, a Gold Wing, a RD 350 and 400, and like 4 other bikes, that have been sitting in that shop for at least 10 years. I started asking him about the GS and he said that he actually rolled it out the other day, hosed it off, thinking the worst and it was actually in pretty good shape, he drained the tank and carburetors, put in fresh gas and off he went on his first ride in many years.
So anyway after talking to him for a while across the fence, kind of like on tool time, he went back to mowing his yard and we went inside to eat dinner. About an hour later we heard something in the driveway, and Allen was outside sitting on this bike, and we went out to see this. All I have to say, is I hope my bike looks this bad in 30 years.
He bought this bike in Seattle in 1979, as a 20 or 21 year old. He said he paid around $3800 at the time, and its only got 8000 miles on it. I can't wait to see the rest of the bikes. I'll have a full report sometime in the future if I ever get to see inside the shop. All I can say is wow, that bike is a work of art. "sorry" I say to the wife, "but I think I'm in love all over again."
Taken with the Blackberry, so try to imagine that what I was seeing was way better that this.

Can you imagine buying a bike like that at 21 and having it all these years? Man I wanted to ride that bike so bad, but all I had on were my house slippers.......man slippers made from leather. Oh and he didn't offer to let me ride it, that too.
