protect your eyes
This morning I went to one of the local bike shops to get the chain replaced on my bike. Of couse I had to take the freeway to get there. It's about 20 miles from my place. But anyway I cought up to this guy on an older gsxr doing about 80. So I passed him up and I looked over at him. He had an old helmet on with no visor. No glasses, nothing to protect his eyes. He could barely open his eyes at the speed he was going. At this point I was doing 85 - 90, and I looked in my mirror and there he is trying to keep up with me. I'm thinking," What the hell is this guy doing." He would slow way down, I'm guessing to get the bugs out of his eyes. Then he would speed up again to catch up with me. Now I'm like f-this guy I don't want to be around him if he's gonna cause an accident. So I hit 110 just long enought for him to get the hint. I guess it worked, I didn't see him after that. But guys don't ride with out eye protection. Even the smallest bug can hurt real bad. And doing 80 with gloves on, your not going to get the bug out fast enough. Thanks guys. RIDE SAFE, RIDE SMART.

Yeah I'm definitely pro gear! That's one thing my ex and I never disagreed on. It's always full face helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots, no substitutions. Definitely a good thing to pass on, Mad Kaw!!!

I don't know how people can not wear a full face helmet. After seeing what splats on my visor (some of those bugs seem to be real 'juicy'!) I can just imagine stopping in somewhere with bug guts all over your face! That'd be real nice!
I always wear my gear - full face helmet, jacket, gloves, jeans (for now, getting a pair of pants soon), and boots.

I wear a full face too. I don't like the tinted / smoked / mirrored shields so I wear sunglasses. I wear a pair of clear ones at night. I like to ride with my shield up going a lower speeds.

I am sure that i have mentioned this before, but in PA they repealed the helmet law within the last 2 years or so, and I know a to of guys who ride without them. I cant say that i know anyone who rides without eye protection, but one of my friends very seldom wears a helmet, usually only if he knows that he will be screwing around, doing tricks, so on, or on extended stretches of highway riding. He does however have a wide variety of differently shaded protective sunglasses...
