Personal WebPage Setup, Need HELP! (Not talking about Myspace)
My ISP gives me 5MB of space that I can use for my own use to setup a web page for whatever purpose I want. Problem is, I've never setup a webpage before. It asks if I want to use "frontpage", or continue my setup with out it. If I choose not to use frontpage, I have to use FTP. (file transfer protocal)
I have MS Office to design web pages. And this is what I would like to use. So do you use Microsoft Office with FTP, or frontpage?
Sorry, but I'm kinda stupid with this stuff. Any of you geeks... I mean computer literate people know what I need to do?

I don't think it would be all that difficult to design the thing, it's just that I have no idea of where to begin when it comes to publishing my website to a web host.

10+ years ago when I was 12 yrs old I learned HTML in a couple days with a website called HTML Goodies. Just check out the primer on HTML. It's easy.
Frontpage is for asshats who don't mind having a webpage take forever and a half to download.

[shutter]....frontpage.... Good way to get seizures... There's a ton of sites out there that can help you out with your own HTML
If you want to use a wysiwyg app, then try to get Dreamweaver.
two sites that are pretty good.
http://webmonkey.com/
http://www.w3schools.com/
If you see a page you like, you can most likely do a "view source" and see the source code for the page.
Also google is your friend.
Good like, and I'm sure there's a handful of us that can help you out with any questions.

Or just create your pages in office (not always a good idea) and then ftp the files up to the web server. I perconally would choose to use ssh if possible. FTP passes the username and password in clear text between you and the device you are connecting to.

I'm surprised we have such knowledgeable computer ppl here. Say that if I learn to use html, if I want to design my own personal website (not a single web page) are there ways to get a website going for free, or at little cost? I see that all the providers out there will give you a free page, but that's only a single page right?
