Default KX125 kickstart issue

hey guys, just bought a 90' kx125 and the kick start is slipping and only turning the motor over about 5 times every three kicks. Will this be an easy fix? I haven't pulled the gear box cover yet so any tips before I dive in would be greatly appreciated!!

ps. runs great when I pull start it (no hills where I live) haha

Welcome to KF and congrats on the new ride.

A visual and initial cover tear down is of the cover and the clutch housing. Generally I have had more issues on other bikes with the spring return or even the ratchet arm wearing out. You may be out gaskets and 20 minutes to do this inspection. Good luck

Try this. All of the KX's and KDX use the same technique as far I am aware of. Good luck and welcome to KF
