can anyone tell me why i cant buy a klx 250 in cali? motorcycles are not subject to smog testing in cali so that cant be it. its not very loud so that cant be it either. it has all the lights and everything else to be legal in 49 states but just not cali. am i the only one thats pissed off about this or what? well, doesnt matter anyway i pick mine up in vegas next week and will be bringing her back here. i guess california would rather have me drive my 89 SUV than a 2006 4 stroke motorcycle.....makes sense....not. im not one to follow the rules, especially when the rules are extremely stupid, so i am working my way around them like i normally do. i gotta have nevada plates on her until i rack up 7500 miles and then its not considered new anymore. then and only then the good state of california will let me register my bike here because it just makes complete sense to do it that way oooohhh sarcasm. yes im bitter but when i want something i get it, especially if my fellow klx riders in all the other 49 states can have one, that makes me want one even more. if anyone else in cali has a 2006 klx 250s please let me know, i dont want to be the only one breaking these stupid rules.

 

well first of all, welcome to the forum.... i don't ride off road bikes so i can't help you... but it looks like you have things figured out.... enjoy your stay and post some pics when you have the chance....

 

yeah, welcome. your not the only one with this problem, just do exactly like you planned and get er done. got to love loopholes in the system.

no i still am not sure why they dont sell em here but im assuming it has something to do with emissions. just doesnt make sense that i can buy a 2 stroke kx 250 and ride it on the track everyday but a 4 stroke klx 250 with cataletyc converter cant be bought or registered in california, i just cant figure it out, it is a 49 state bike so they say. which leaves my state out. but i can make my own custom chopper in a garage with straight pipes and no converter and get plates no problem in this great state. maybe california just has something against dual purpose bikes.
