Im new to motorcycles in general but always wanted one. Im 40 and I just got tired of seeing them everywhere and not having one, and I recently made a trip out to Big Bend Ranch State Park in West Texas. Its an awesome place by the way as I am from coastal woodlands in East Texas (flat, lots of mud when its normally wet, real dry here lately). Long story short, the terrain geography out there is bad *ss, and while there there was a bunch of guys riding dual sports and I kind of got the fever to get a bike and hopefully return there or somewhere like it.

So, I started researching bikes, went and sat on a few and figured I should begin with a used one to start, as well as a 250 since I was a virtual virgin in the biking realm. I looked at the big 3: Suz, Hondo, and the Kawi and one I read the best reviews on and felt comfortable on was the Kawi so I went with a used 09 250s for $2500. Ive had it about 2 weeks, put about 75 miles on it in the back yard, neighborhood and the trails behind the house. I am pretty comfortable with the bike now. I am enrolled in the MC safety course to get my license next month (1.5 month wait! WTF?!!) I dont even have a helmet yet as we have crappy selection for bike shoos here. I tried on a few but wanted a dual sport type so I ended up ordering a AFX 39, which I have since found out was brand new and Ive been waiting weeks. Its due here next week, just got the UPS notice.

My long short story is turning into a book, but anyway I started searching the web looking for info about the bike, sport, and all the gear etc.. and ran across this one and Thumpers, which are both a wealth of good sh*t for a noob, so I joined this one. Im not usually a social networker, no FB<tweet etc BS for me but I wanted to get in and get to know some actual riders a little.

My bike came with the stock pipe installed but the dude gave me a big gun and a dynojet stage 1 kit and a new rear tire (tire is a 17 if anyone is interested) so the other day I put the big gun evo R on it and I got a mild chubby, I think I like it!

So I think I am being drawn into the DS gravitational pull for good. Im hooked.

My bike is down for maintenance right now, shipping me a new oil pressure switch, master link, and a brake pad pin, just for good measure.

 

The lack of whoring in here is almost criminal.

I got the masterlink in the mail, it is the size of 2 fingertips but they shiped it in a box slightly larger than a shoebox. Could have dropped it in an envelope and saved me some money.
