HUNTING TRIP 2007
Well I finally got everything put away, and man am I beat. Got home at midnight on Wednesday night. We packed up a day early since the weather report on the Blackberry said freezing rain was in the forecast. Glad we did, it seems a major storm was heading across the state. Someone mentioned earlier that its not about actually getting a deer, and I couldn't agree more. In fact I don't care if I ever get a deer and that's probably why I decided to use the pistol, that way if I do actually get close enough to shoot one then it will be just deserved. Anyway on to the pics.
Some of you may remember that two days before I left I had two major things going on, one at work and one with the wife getting knee surgery. While I'm not going to post any surgery pics, here are a few of the water vault that was being worked on the same day as the wife's surgery, I split my time between the hospital and the vault. What a crazy week it has been for sure.
Water vault work.
Ok on to the fun.
Found an old mine shaft near Loomis
First night camping and my tent was thrashed. Looks like the OCD was going to have to take a back seat until I got home.
But alas I was to be visited by a ninja who cleaned up everything during the night.
Ok that's me, and I cleaned and organized everything. I guess he was my alter ego.
Ok onto the hunt.
You want me to walk up that hill?
Oh yea before I left home I downloaded a few Geocache way points and while hunting I noticed while road hunting one day one of the caches was right next to the road we were on, mind you this was 260 miles from home. Of course that is if you drove in a straight line, but in reality it was an 8 hr drive.
Ok after being side tracked we got back to the task at hand.
Overlooking Loomis by the Geocache
Hey look long horn sheep, but not on the menu.
Hey look, lets follow that footprint.
Go ahead.....make my day
Even with this find, our luck still didn't get any better.
Found a few old homesteads.
Deej and Mike
Some fall colors
Hey look someone actually did get a deer!!
My friend Danny had a doe tag, and is a disabled hunter, he's the one I told you about that need a heart transplant, and yet has a bigger heart than anyone I have ever met. He always has a smile on his face.
So apparently you can't prevent forest fires, sorry Smokey.[&:] But interestingly some of the pine species need fire to get the seeds to germinate, so its all good....sometimes.
Well it was time to pick up camp, what a mess.
Taking down the pooper

Great pics and journal, Deej! Looks like you had a great time! Thanks for posting it for us.
BTW, that storm system just came thru SW Ohio tonight around 12:30-1:00am. (2am local time right now.) [8D]

RE: HUNTING TRIP 2007
Looks like a great time. and great pics!
but I've always wondered something ....... Can you answer a question for me?
When guys go hunting they usually wear camoflage clothes so that the game can't see them ...... but then they put on bright orange vests so that other hunters can see them.
The question: Isn't this a clothing oxymoron?
Enlighten me
