So Saturday I picked her about 130 from school... her choice we went to Chicago Cycle (you guys need to see this place... it is the size of a motorcycle show ), and we spent about 3 hours there. We looked at everything, and spent most of the time talking about our relative bike histories and whatnot. She likes the ZX6 and Gixxer 600... but she did say that some day she would like to get a ZX14. I was quite shocked... hell, *I* don't even want a 14. Funny part is - she seriously does strike me as the kind of person who would respect it, and ride it right. So then we went to the gear section, and she picked out some stuff... so she will be well protected this summer heheh... Turns out she is much more into bikes and riding and sportbikes in general than I initially thought. She knew a lot of info about a lot of bikes, and you could tell just by watching her look at them and the way she mounted/dismounted/sat/adjusted that she knew her way around them a little bit. I was quite impressed.
Then we went for dinner at Ruby Tuesday across the street, spent a couple hours there just talking about ourselves, histories, families, etc... we had done some of this over messenger in the past, but doing so face to face was very cool. She had to work at 7, so I ran her back home.
Coolest part was I felt completely at-ease with her. Not even first-date jitters... and certainly not stressed or under the gun like I have felt for several years with my wife. It was nice, calm, relaxed... she has a very positive & happy atmosphere around her. I really enjoyed the time... and we will be getting together again some time this week as health (she caught a cold Friday, but struggled through on Saturday with me (awww) ) and time permits, or else maybe next weekend.
All in all - I am pretty happy. I had a lot of fun, and you gotta love a girl who wants to go to a bike shop for a first date...
So... I like her, I think she likes me... and we are getting together again soon. We will have to see what happens. I shall keep you posted, and to make my contribution legit - I promise I will later post a pic of her on the 9.
Which - btw - I got running this past weekend as well. All the plastic is still off, but I put the top engine back together, as well as the lungs and gas... started up on first try. Spring cannot get here fast enough!
