Garage thief Kapow! Cheap way to thwart.
Sorry if long but read on..
We all think that we live in the "good part of town", but I know we dont anywhere (unless gated). This is a simple way I have come up with to give me piece of mind. See pics. Use a hammer drill (or your buddies) to drill a hole to accept a 1/2" x 3.25" (or so) anchor into the concrete of your garage. Attach 3/8 inchchain (about 2-3 feet is plenty) with a hefty washer and 1/2 inch nut to squish the chain to floor. Then just padlock it.
The anchor is $2.90 and 3 feet of 3/8" chain is about $10 at home depot.
I know of course the bolt cutter will get thru it and all, but it will keep the thief with the easy steal at bay. I am thinking even to take a zip tie with a little cow bell on the chain to throw them off if they do start to move the bike. I would think (as the pics show) that they won't even know that its chained to the concrete.
Throw a few anchors around the edges of the garage to give flexibility of locking up whatever.
Thanks, and throw a comment good or bad.
Oh, one thing is that I took a chisel and beat the threads up so the 3/4 inch wrench cant remove nut. Peace out.
The attachment at very bottom shows best, these others were a pain but do work too.
