Default 1980 klx 250 rolling the dice on an 89-2001 300cc kit

I am new to the forum so if I make mistakes with posting in wrong place just direct me how to correct it please. Ok first of all I got back into dirt bikes about 1-1.5 years ago after a hiatus of 20 + years. I currently have 5 or 6 dirt bikes most being Kawasaki. So I bought this 1980- Klx 250 on thanksgiving day 2023 it was more like half of a klx 250 with the PO having no knowlege of what was wrong only he got it from his neighbor. SO after 200-300 spent on ebay I have wat is now a 90-95% complete KLX 250 Still need a top frame to head bracket and an airbox as well as the rear fender assembly. But after getting it running I saw pretty quickly why it had been torn into. It is smoking from the rings being worn so it is burning the oil left on cylinder walls. Aside from that it runs excellent and handles well. So I started looking at rebuild kits the cheapest being 400+ a up to $1500 and that is out of the question. So after looking around at some other Kawasaki models I found an 89-2001 (I think that was the years covered or close to that anyway) Bayou 300 engine rebuild kit with a cylinder, piston, ring, all needed gaskets kit for $62. After probaly 2 hours of looking at different pics of the parts in the kit decided That the cylinder appears that it will boltup to my block and my original head will bolt to that. some porting and polishing will be needed but it should bolt on. My only concerns are the minor changes to oil passage and delivery system and the original head takes a different stylehead gasket that is a simplerin layed around the cylinder. Other than that I am wondering what changes will need to be made on the fuel system with the carburetor and the jets. Will I need to ordera 34mm carb or is the 32 or 30 mm carbs I have gonna bebig enough and just change to bigger jets? I know this sounds like a disaster to some of you guys but ebay has a 30 day return policy if I overlooked something and the reward if it will bolt on is worth the risk of having to wait6 mnths to a year to save the money for a regular kit. I am mechanically skilled have no reservations about the rebuild but I am not sure what way to go on fuel/ carb issue. the alternate oil passage shouldnt be an issue and timing chain tensioner appears to be same size and design as one I have in the bike now. I know all about cross checking part numbers for interchangeability but I think I am gonna pull this off with maybe a coupole snags to navigate. Does anyone know a specific reason this can not work?
i KNOW THAT IS A LONG POST AND i APOLOGIZE FOR THAT i WAS TRYING TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR ABOUT THE WHOLE SITUATION. iF YOU HAVE ANY NEGATIVE ENERGY ABOUT THE PROJECT i HEAR IF YOU SWALLOW IT DOWN WITH A SHOT OF ALCOHOL OR LIQUOR IT MORE LIKELY TO STAY DOWN BC i DONT NEED NEGATIVE NANCY ONINE i HAVE A WIE FOR THAT LOL
