Default 01 Prairie 360 starter problem

So brand new to this forum but on one for my car so I know the routine and couldn't find anything about this issue. When I go to start my quad, I get a very very rapid clicking before I notice the pump kicks on to get the quad fired up. I dunno if the clicking has anything to do with a bad wiring set up. Let me know and I can give more details.

Sounds like bad connection, low or bad battery, bad starter or solenoid. How old is the battery?

wow, BnG68 covered all of the possible issues in a sentence. Nice job.

Check the connections first, but there generally is a need to replace the battery with your symptoms.

Thanks Dragone! Thats one of the main things that happens to atvs that come in our shop. Most of the time they sit so either battery is bad and connections are corroded or the carb is plugged. Also the 360's had a valve problem. In the kawasaki repair manual they give the correct specs. Usually you go inbetween what kawi says in the book. Well there is actually a bulletin or supplement that says set the valve lash bigger side of the valve lash settings. The compression release on those machines are a bit finicky. Also drill out the idle mixture plug and richen it up a bit if it hasnt been already done. Both those will cause a hard to start prob.

Awesome. Thanks for the help guys. To be honest I don't know how old the battery is and my neighbor who I bought it off of might not know either. I'm def going to try the battery first and get a new one. I went threw all the connections and fuses and they seem fine. Nothing corroded. If the battery doesn't do it I'll know it's on to the next part. Will let you know if problem gets fixed. Thanks again.
