mine is a freaking hog!! I can't even get 100 miles. I'm topping off the tank and it's happened on several occasions that I'm reaching for the reserve switch at only 75 miles. It seems like it holds about 4 gallons when totally dry. I've been stopping to put gas in when I get around 65-75 miles and usually add between 3 - 3.5 gallons. WTF

Reset your Trip meter at every fill up, and start getting an average until you have to refill next. That's how a motorcycle fuel gauge works.
Off the ZX7 topic, my Ninja 250R goes about 220-230 miles before hitting reserve. The tank won't go dry until 300 miles.[8D] Not bad, right?

I hit my reserve at 132 miles yesterday, first time since I bought the bike about a month ago.
That friggin' fuel switch is a PITA to reach! Tucked back behind my left leg/knee...I couldn't hit it while riding and had to pull over to the side of the highway after running dry! [:-]

just swing your leg out and twist it back and up towards you. Practice doing this.
And dont forget to flip it back when you fill up!!!

Yup, keep your foot on the peg, just swing the knee out and then the petcock is easy enough to reach. Don't stay in that position too long, otherwise people would be thinking that you are doing something!

Yes this does seem to work - I will need to try today as I'm sure I'll hit my reserve on the way home, but I tried it today an was able to get a good grip on the petcock.
