2001 ZX7R question
Hi guys. I just read a post in the "KF HELP AND SUGGESTION CENTRE" area, and thought I would help out. It was posted by CSABA1589. They own a 2001 ZX7R Kawasaki, and were looking to replace the chain and sprocket. They first wanted to know what was the original sprocket numbers, and what would give them a little extra oompf from take off. They also were looking for suggestions on what company to buy from. They found a Vortex set they like, but are looking for opinions and advice. I just thought I would pass it along to those who are familiar with this bike. Thanks.

Hi, mine is a '96, I think they ran pretty much the same setup through 2003. My stock sprockets were 16 front, 42 rear. When I bought the bike, it had been set up for quarter miles and had been alterred to 14 front, 46 rear. I don't have anything to compare to (yet) since this is the only way I've riden this bike.. but I will tell you it has crazy low end, get off the line power! I'm in the process right now actually putting a 16 back on the front, and will leave the 46 rear. So I'll have a little more off the line than the factory setup, but hopefully get me running lower rpm's on the highway, and saving some fuel! Not sure I can make any recommendations on brands.. the new front I just bought is a Sunstar.
Not sure that will help a whole hell of a lot, but just throwing it out there for conversation sake!
