I am over by Tampa. No not for Bike week but we are thinking of getting a bunch of people together for Biketoberfest. It is a little less hecktic then Bike week. Let me know when you get that motordone and that bike put back together. We will meet up. Maybe if I come down that way we can stop and do a little memorial whereDC got killed at....

As far as I know the cylinder do need to be plated. Also I guess he'll use stronger rod bolts or rods. Get a Race ECU if you can. What class do you plan to race in? FX or endurance?

The issue normally happens, when you alter the engine and chassis past rulebook, you are stuck in superbike status, which will escalate into more money into the ride just to be competitive. Rider skills also included.

If you plan to run in a 750 class or higher, I suggest getting that size bike and modifying that to whatthe rules allow; preferably start with the stock class and move up gradually. Taking a smaller displacement bike and sinking a whole lot of money in it just to be competitive will drain your wallet and burn you out because you will always be working on it. Trust me, I did that with my old 85 ZX600R trying to compete with the 1988/89 CBR600 & FZR600. I sank almost 6K in my bike over timejust to make it compete with thesebasically stock/ modified bike. Could have bought a brand new FZR600 and would have been winning. They were that good right out of the showroom floor. I rode my but off and was always working on the bike when I wasn't riding and got burned out. I stopped having FUN so I quit racing! I wish I could have done things different. Oh well, Live and Learn.
