I was talking to a friend yesterday about this mod. He has a GSXR 750, he said why not but a liter bike. I told him he wouldn't feel as bad when I leave his a$$ behind on the ZX666. Lol.

Shinobi, Thanks a bunch for the Article dude. Great article. I know some of the guys involved with that project & endurance race. Jeff and his brother Kirk Hoeppner used to race with me in the AFM at Sears Point & Willow Springs and Jim Lindeman set-up the suspension on my bike. What a small world. Man I miss that racing environment.

No problem Speed, any time.
I'm gonna start looking for parts. A friend of mine just turned me on to an aerospace machinist who will CNC machine titanium rods for me to whatever I specs I need for a reasonable fee. My buddy is into model rockets, and this guy made him 12 nose cones for a "prototype" rocket he is building. I'l just need to get my math right. I might still look for production rods, after I get all the math down, and see what I really need.

Dragone, unfortunately I am a long ways away from the AFM now that I've been in Texas. The club here is CMRRA. I really regret moving here and now I can't afford to come back. The real-estate there is outrageous. I may try to do a trackday or two oran endurance race if I hook up with a team. I did a 24 hour at Willow Springs back in 89 on a GSXR750. That was a blast!

Back to the ZX666R:

Shinobi, I wonder why they (Andrews) didn't try stronger rod bolts. That's unbelievable horsepower for that thing!

I have been told that Kawi does have the weakest bottom end. Can maybe hold up to 500hp where theSuz can do something like 700hp. But again, hear say.

I'm not sure why they didn't use stronger rod bolts. I've always been taught to over build high HP projects. Unless they didn't expect such big results. When I talk about it I'll say it's only 2MM. Not like putting a big stroker crank, and bringing your 1000 to 1300. I don't think knew what kind of numbers they would be putting up, for a prototype build I would use grade 8, and 10 bolts to be sure the hardware didn't fail. Just had a thought... Maybe they reused the old bolts, and they were over torqued either when Kawi put 'em in, or when they reinstalled them? They would snap under those conditions. I don't know I hope they do a involved breakdown of the engine.

Prob I have had was the oem stuff stretched too much. Going to grade 8 or 10 forces a person to use heli-coils. But the rod bolts I would replace on every rebuild anyways to get the proper stretch measurements.
