Default ZX666.

I just received my Jan issue of Cycle World. In it there is an article on Kawi 636 that Cycle World, and Hypercycle built. These ***** stroked the 636 2MM to 665. This would be easy enough, you would need pistons with the wrist pin hole moved (J&E pistons), some better rods (like Falicon knife rods), and your choice of T6 aluminum spacer, or heavy copper head gasket (my Father in law has used heavy copper head gaskets on his turbo CBX which makes 205 hp. The CBX is still ridded on the street, and was put together nine years ago). I would also put in bigger head bolts, but thats just me. Any way these guys got 143 REAR WHEEL HP out of this Hell Spawn! The engine builder thinks he can get more with some tweaking, I suspect head work, and more FI study. I would put a slightly more radical set of cams in. The article is on page 91 of this months Cycle World. I may have to void my warranty, and get 666 decals made. I think I can hear my tools dancing in anticipation.

The cover has the new Ducati 1098 from three angles. I didn't see any hard numbers except the HP nothing like 143 @ X RPM, or a dyno sheet in the article. How much man, I don't know for sure. Probably around 700 to 900. I can't remember what JE gets for pistons Falicone will get 500 for rods, and 70 for a spacer. Still even if you put 900 in that's not bad for that much HP gain (I don't think).

GOT MY ATTENTION!! I also saw that Wiseco or ?had a 650CC kit for the 636's somewhere. I may do that if I ever decide to rebuild this engine. Maybe I'll just get an 05ZX10R instead.

I know... I've even been thinking about getting a extra engine, so I can drag the project out, and build something sick.

I bet that they had to offset grind the crankshaft for the extra stroke (like the chevy 383's). I can't wait to read that article.
