You likely won't even have any out of spec, so won't even need to take off more than the valve cover. Seems like a lot of work, but it really sucks to take it to the mechanic and pay all that labor for him to change nothing! I did that a couple years ago with my Honda. Was 35,000+ miles and no adjustment needed. Pretty expensive for nothing, plus having to trailer it to and from the dealer.

They charge for the labor involved to check them. It's kind of a pain to check the clearances. The Tank, Airbox, Valve & RH crankcover, coils, plugshas to come off anyway. Mine were out of tolerance (3 valves)when I first checked them and required adjustment. You need the narrow tapered feeler gauges to check these. I adjusted all to the tighter side of the allowable tolerance for more power. Just remember to loosen the cam chain tensioner and reset it (CRITICAL)before installation and check the camtiming (CRITICAL) a couple of times by rotating the engime by hand before closing everything up.

Recommended Valve Check/ Adjustment interval is 15,000 miles. Oill changes every 7,500 miles and spark plug clean & regap is every 4,000 miles!
oops! spark plug clean and gap at 4k? hmm...might be why i am getting a little hesitation on takeoff these days. thanks speed!
