Default truth about sliders?

I read somewhere on the internet that the no-cut sliders for 05-06 636 is bad coz in a high speed laydown the mount will break and cause more damage. Thus it is better to cut your fairings and mount directly to the engine. Does anyone have any experience or seen the outcome. I want to do everything I can to keep my bike from suffering my dumb mistakes!!!!

You are correct on the NO CUT Slider's. Get the ones where you have to cut the fairing.

And they also cause more damage in a wreck, by not absorbing any force from the impact or not slowing the bike down in the event of a slide....

Make sure that you get the Sliders that attach on the Frame/ Engine mount. You can get Aluminum or Delrin sliders. Either way, without them you'll be sliding on plastic and or aluminum part from your bike. Check with this seller on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AWNA%3AMT%3A12 . He had some Delrin Slider pretty cheap and in different colors. Wait till they're up for auction; this way you can get them cheaper or see if he'll do a group buy.

I have a 2004 636 with the Vortex non-cut sliders, nylon puck, with metal bases. They go on to the engine mount. I dropped the bike at 10mph and it bent my engine mount, but did absorb well, an minimal minimal damage. Check into the vortex ones, you can get whatever color you want too. If you drop the bike, you can just replace the puck, which is like $20.

I imagine if i was going 20mph it might of broke off the mount or maybe just bent even more, then again I do not like to speculate.
