Transmission Problelms
I'm having transmission problems on my 06 ZX-6R. This started after my last trackday. When I'm leaned over and accelerating comming out of a corner hard my bike feels like it's jumping out of gear. I thought maybe my clutch was going out so I put a new one and it's still doing it. I also had put on a new rear sprocket at the same time I went to the track. I also put the stock back on and it's still does it. I notice that it's only doing it on 2nd and 3rd gears only. When the bike is upright it does not do it or it has maybe once. Is anyone have had problems this this in the past with there 05 or 06 ZX-6R's.

RE: Transmission Problelms
Well, when I put the new sprocket on, I also put a new chain (DID x-ring racing chain). I have checked the chain adustments and it seem to be adjusted properly. Could it be that my shift rod is bent? When I changed the oil I didn't see any unusual partical debris, I can tell youthat the oil was dirty though.

here is a question.. is it any corner (L and R) or only one or the other
if its only left or only right then possibly the extra side force combined with worn shift fork/drum or worn engagement dogs are causing it to happen.
only way to know for sure would be to open it up and look for wear/damage

I had a person I knew who had the same problem. It started happening after he started to track the bike and kept getting worse. I'll see if i can reach to to see what the problem was.

if it felt like it was jumping in and out of gear like a chattery clutch slip then i say its the dogs are worn out. makes me wonder if anybody ever tried cryo treating the gears or shift forks to make them last longer.

RE: Transmission Problelms
Well, at first it was doing it mostly when I'm leaned to the left and accelerating hard. Lately though, it has been doing it on both sides and sometimes even when upright. Around town it has been okay. It's just when I start to head to the twisties and local backroads and riding hard. Could it also be that my 2nd and 3rd gear are going out. I have not yet encounter doing it on the 4th or higher gears?

RE: Transmission Problelms
Yes, sometimes it feels like it's jumping out of gears and other times it feels like the clucth is slipping. When it does slip, it's not very long. Seem like it slips a little and then grabs. Therefore, it so hard to tell exactly what's going on where it's comming from. I have taken the bike 4 times to the track this year and another 3 last year. This problem only started doing it towards the last two sessions of the day, but only once and maybe twice on each sessions.

when tracking a bike 2nd and 3rd are usually the first grears to go. check bike bandit and see if they sell a internal kit for the tranny, might be cheaper then getting all new stuff.
