Default tech questions!

Hey guys, i bought a week ago an '06 636 and i love it! it has 4900 miles. it's the first bike i've ever owned so i'm getting used to it! i'm a car mechanic but i've never ever worked on a bike in my life and i figured you could help me out! i know you are gonna laugh at me but how exactly do you do an oil change on this thing? to reach the oil filter, do i have to remove the side fairing? please help lol and thanx for any reply

Remove lower fairings (bellypan). You can take it off as a whole or push in the centre of the plastic quick rivets to relase them and only take off one side. You pull the centre pin to an outermost position for replacement There are a couple of plastic hooks as well. Grab some of those brass/rubber arrangements as spares as eventually they break. Remove drain plug. Torque 22 ft/lbs. 3.4L oil change, 3.6 L with filter change , 4l dry engine .Oil filter torque 23 flt/lbs. Grab a PDF manual. Great for procedures.

thanx a lot for the help! i'll be trying saturday morning since i'm off and i also have to pick up the oil filter and the oil! i guess i'll go to the dealer to pick that up! thanx again

BTW where can i get the PDF manual? and for the oil, should i get it at the dealer or should i go for something better like a fully synthetic? thanx

yeah go with the full syn. you will notice a smother ride. also might be a good time to check the air filter seeing how the orig owner prolly never even knew where it was lol.

give me till tonight and ill get you that pdf of the service manual.

Thanx a lot! Sorry for replying after many days but I was working and completely forgot about this!
BTW it sucks to ride at night in the rain! Don't ask me how I know that! Good thing is that I didn't feel the bike hesitating so I know I don't have an intake leak I've heard many people with that problem
