thanks nonstock. i have checked both sags and them seem to be where they say they should be for road about 29 each end. and good unloaded also. think it time to start with preload, rebound and comp damping. just curious if it will make a huge difference. hope to have my sd this week also.

RE: SUSPENSION SETTING
If you do not like it go back to the settings you had after setting your sag.
Just in case you do not know or understand the sag, after it is set that should be your starting point for all your adjustments. Properly set sag allows your suspension to operate to its fullest capabilities with you on the bike. The factory settings are not set for you; your sag settings are set for your weight. Make any additional adjustments from there.

thanks. that seemed to be what i have understood from studying this. did it last week and it made a difference. but i also understand once it is set it is set and done as long as i dont change weight. correct?

RE: SUSPENSION SETTING
Yes but you can still make small adjustments for quicker or less rebound ect. I have been trying to find the time to study and learn more about this too.
A properly set up bike will out turn other bikes that are not set up and therefore turn faster laps. In reality suspension mods are the best ones we can do to our bikes to make them better rather then exhaust and engine ones. I am guilty of the all of the above

05/06 ZX6R 636's.
Hey Kag, Here's the Sport-Rider recommended settings for an 05 636 for street/ trackdays. I set up mine this way as a base and it's pretty close. Went riding to test it out and the bike handled very good. I'll be using this setting as a baeline for the trackday on Monday.
Front: Preload; 3 lines showing. Rebound Dampening; 2.5 turns out (counter-clockwise) from full stiff. Compression Dampening; 1.5 turns out (counter-clockwise) from full stiff.
Rear: Preload; 2 treads showing. Rebound Dampening; 14 clicks out (counter-clockwise) from full stiff. Compression Dampening; .75 turns out (counter-clockwise) from full stiff.
Try it and you can always fine tune it to suit you.
