sprocket trouble

Default sprocket trouble

I'm changing out my sprocket and chain setup but I'm having a hell of time trying to remove the front sprocket, i have it in gear with someone holding the rear brake and still I'm turning the trans i don't think it's reverse thread it's a 98 Zx6r any buddy have any suggestions please

Make sure that the security washer is totally flattened. A small ripple will cause headaches. Then use an impact wrench on the CS nut. I have had to place a board in the rear rim and swingarm to break loose a CS nut before.

^^+1, thats what I did to mine. Same model as you also, make sure the washer is flattened, and without an impact it is impossible. I used the aluminum breaker bar wrapped in a towel method to keep the wheel from turning. Good luck...

What everyone said is pretty much right on, if you have access to an impact wrench it will make life alot easier. But you can do it without one, I know because I did you just have to put something in the back tire to keep it from turning.
