Sprocket Change

RE: Sprocket Change
You can change either or depends what you are trying to achieve. Droopingthe front will will give you more pull and loose top end. Adding to the rear will give more pull and make the front feel lighter, easier to wheelie and loose top end.
IMO f-the top end, I mean how often can you really use it or go 155+ and for how long. All of us have tried to hit max speed and 99.9% only get there for a brief second and then have to roll off. Most of your ridding is under 100 so would it not be better to be quicker than faster?
-1 front and +2 rear, You will think have have a whole new bike and you will be quick as hell. Yes those that do not have this gearing set up will catch you in the end around 165+ but once again how often are you ridding that fast.
-1 +2 is the best gearing set up for street and canyon you can do. My R-1 with this gearing still hit above 160and would smoke them off the corner. Quick is better then faster! My .02!

RE: Sprocket Change
As long as you stay with the same width size as your chain and rear sprocket, 520/530.
www.sprocketcenter.com I have had good service from this guy.
Good luck and post back on your new gearing and how you like it.

RE: Sprocket Change
No. You either have 530 or 520 chain and sprockets, this is the average for todays sport bikes, you have to find out which one you have and then order the appropriate size sprocket to match.
Only dropping 1 in the front and you do not need to replace your chain, just adjust it after the new sprocket is installed.
It will push the rear wheelback and decrease your turning but not enough to make a difference unless you are racing or crazy hard canyon rider.

RE: Sprocket Change
So i found the facotry specs of chain is 05-06 ZX6R 636 (15/43-factory-520-factory). So by dropping -1tooth inthe front and +2 teethin the back will make it 14teeth in the front and 45 teeth in the back. Correct?? I hope imon the right track. I should feel a difference too right?

RE: Sprocket Change
k, stang, you found out that you run a 520 chain/sprocket. You alsorun a stock15/43.
ok, what do you actually want in the ride? example: I liked to increase the rear sprocket by +2 to get a feel for the track. Try it out and then play on. Just do not go below a 12 on the front in my experiences.
