RE: quick question
Ok, that is what I was thinking I had to do. Next question is, for those of you without a impact gun how did you remove the sprocket nut to change out the front sprocket? I have just spent an hour with a breaker bar and that damn little nut, and it has won.[:@]
Thanks

RE: quick question
I will only sugest this with caution you may need more leverage. Get a section of pipe, and put it over the breaker bar apply force. Remember a breaker bar will snap a 3/8" bolt like it's cool. First make sure you are follwing the book. I did a little c/p from that section.
After reading the section I see that that nut is torqued to 92ftl-bs! You may need a pipe.
11-10 FINAL DRIVE
Sprocket, Coupling
Engine Sprocket Removal •Remove:
Engine Sprocket Cover Bolts [A]
Engine Sprocket Cover [B]
•Flatten out the bended washer [A]. •Remove the engine sprocket nut [B] and washer.
NOTE
â—‹When loosening the engine sprocket nut, hold the rear
brake on.
•Raise the rear wheel off the ground. •Remove the axle cotter pin, and loosen the rear axle nut. •Loosen the both chain adjuster locknut to loosen the drive
chain. •
Remove the drive chain from the rear sprocket toward the
right. •
Pull the engine sprocket [
A] with drive chain [
B] off the
output shaft [C]. •Disengage the drive chain from the engine sprocket.
Engine Sprocket Installation •Replace the sprocket washer and axle cotter pin. •Install the engine sprocket onto the shaft so that the mark
side [A] faces outwards. •Apply molybdenum disulfide oil solution to the threads of
the output shaft and the seating surface of the engine
sprocket nut. •After torquing the engine sprocket nut, bend the one side
of the washer [B] over the nut.
NOTE
â—‹Tighten the nut while applying the rear brake.
Torque - Engine Sprocket Nut: 125 N·m (13 kgf·m, 92 ft·lb)
•Adjust the drive chain slack after installing the sprocket
(see Drive Chain Slack Adjustment in the Periodic Maintenance
chapter).

Maybe I'll get a good one when I order my sprocket from the sprocket center.
