or as I like to do... When you are at a light, reach over and flip your buddies right before it goes green[sm=badbadbad.gif]

I agree with Gerg. I use my kill switch because I always shut off my bike in gear, so my LH is occupied and the RH is on the Brake. It is a good idea to leave the ignition on if the bikes hot but turn it off then back on quickly so that you don't drain the battery more that necessary due to the headlights being on; especially if you're running the dual headlight mod. The kill switch is there mainly for emergency shut-off and I think the manual states to check the operation of it before riding so I cover that. Plus for me it's just a habit. It's also just a little added security, if someone tries to roll your bike away while it's in gear, it would cause a little delay.

I was under the impression if the engine gets hot the fan would stay on, even if the key was in the off postioin.

I have to agree with it is only needed for emergencies. I have sat there for a second wondering why my bike wont start and then realize that I hit the cutoff by mistake. I leave my bike in neutral so I can start it while off the bike with out having to engage the clutch. Only leave it in gear if I am parked on a hill.

BTW, I like the reach over joke there evil, you truly are the evil one.
I can just picture someone trying to fumble to get the bike started and take off late into the light.
