Is A Open Butterfly Exaust Valve Bad?
Greetings everyone! This is my first post here, I used to have a 04 Yamaha R6 and belonged to a Yamaha forum, but it got stolen [:@]. Now I have a 06 ZX-6R so now I'm going to be posting here! To get more to the point, I did not ride my bike for over a year, had it in storage and barely took it out. The FI light came on and when I checked the codes it's 34 meaning that there is something wrong with the exaust butterfly valve sensor. The default action by the bike now is to leave it fully open. The servo works cause I can see it crank flawlesly. If I leave the valve open like this will it cause any harm to the bike? I don't mind if I loose a little HP because it doesn't have the back pressure. I just don't want anything to get damaged. I drove it around a little and couldn't feel any difference from before the light came on, but I live in lame Oregon. The speed limits here are around 25 to 35 and there are cops with radars in every other block since there is no real crime. The bike is completely stock and will most likely stay that way. Well hopefully some of you will know the answer, thanx in advance and hope to talk to all of you latter on.

might just need to replace the sensor. could be a lose connector. water in the connector. you may be able to ride around withour problems for a while but you'll always be better off fixing it.
