Default oil, filter changes

i was just readin my manual for my 07 and it says to change ur oil and filter every 12 000km (7 500miles). i obviously am going to do it more than that but i was wondering how often u've all done it? oh and the synthetic vs mineral oil debate just to add a bit of chaos. i've got 7000kms on my bike and i've done the oil 3 times. i was told by a mechanic at the stealership where i got my bike to not even bother with synthetics until 10 000kms....anyone?

I change mine every 2,000 -2,500 mi and i use a K&N oil filter (the nut on the end is awsome) with Royal Purple oil. The synthetic oil dropped my cooling temp 10 deg.

With synhetic oils, you can go longer between oil changes. Kawasaki recommends every 7,500 miles. You cango up to10,000 mile with synthetic; ofcourse if you ride hard on the street, 7,500 is a good mark. For Track Racing we change it every race weekend just for security. Plus we get it free so we change it. When I raced the Stock Production Class, I change it every 3 race weekendsbecause I was paying for it.

i change mine every 3to 4 thousand miles. using regular oil because my stealership told me the synthetic was not good for the slipper clutch. does that sound right ?????

I hear a lot of conflicting reports on the syn oil / clutch subject. What I can tell you is my own personal experience. When I bought my 94 Ninja, I changed the oil in it first thing after I got it home...using Kawasaki conventional. Then I installed new clutch fibers, plates and springs. It worked really well. A few hundred miles later, I switched to Mobil 1 4T and the clutch turned into an on/off switch. It didn't slip, but the friction area during release all but disappeared. It became hard to use when starting off from a stoplight. So, I think it may really depend on the bike...stiffness of springs and materials used in clutch parts. I can't say I was thrilled with how my brand new clutch felt, but I learned to live with it since I prefer synthetic fluids in all my engines.

I had my clutch slip like crazy at 8,000 rpm on my old racebike but came to find out it was defective with a couple of the new plates too thin. That was the only time I had clutch problems. My team Raced with the same clutch all Season! Clutch life depends on how you treat it. I have never had to replace a clutch due to wear even when racing!! Only to upgrade from stock to Hi=Performance clutch plates. The new syntheticoils are so good and they have dealt with the clutch slippage issues they had when synthetic oils first came out. Now an already near worn clutch may slip with synthetic oils but it's on the way out anyway. I have been usin Synthetic oil inmy bike since around 3,000 miles and I have 17,000 miles of commuting, weekend twisties & high speed blasts and a couple oftrackdays with no problems.

Yes, however I have used Mobil1 and Valvoline Syntheticwithout any problems. Now I am using Motul 300V Racing Full Synthetic and it's time to change my oil again.
