You could remove you speed sensor, get a drill motor and a metal wheel with holes in it to excite the sensor (like the front sprocket) & spin it. This will cause your mileage to rise. Depending on how desperate you are, just buy one on ebay.

oh I got pulled over for no lisence plate light, but they wrote me up for everything. I was thinking about; pick up the back wheel and let it run, but it will cost me less just to trade or buy the odo.

I would hook you up butmine does not have that many miles on it. I suggest doing Speeds' idea or Evils' quiker and easier. Put in on the rear stand and pretend you are riding it down the rode Should only take you a day or three.

It the black thing that kind of looks like a spark plug wire on side cover of the bike. Its on the same side as the rear break. I would help you out but I got over 21k on my bike.
