I don't like saying it, but this post sounds a bit suspect considering you would trade your working speedometer for one with a specific amount of miles on it. Why would you need a speedometer with more miles so quickly? Sorry if I sound too paranoid.

Its 100% working odo. I just need to get my bike registered. I live in Cali, if you dont you might not be aware of it. My bike is an out of state bike in order to get it registered here, the odometer at least should read 7500, thats what I was told by the dmv.

make friends with someone at a dealership, paper plate it, keep the paper plate clean looking (newish) and don't get pulled over for 3k? I dunno. Are the tags current on the out of state license? why not run 3k on those?

that sound like it may have something to do with paying sales tax on it when its registered. Like if you bought it out of state to take less of a hit on the sales tax, the state will be like "oh no, we will still find a way to f*ck you, and make you pay or sales tax". So maybe if they think that if there is a certain amount of miles, then you didnt just buy it outta state, and then bring back across.

Or something like that. Either way, I have yet to get my bike registered or inspected. One my bike wont pass inspection in Massachusetts, and two, i use my buddies old MASS plates. I know, stupid, but I hope to change that this year

Werein the state of California....if you move here and the bike doesn't have 7500 miles on it then you have to go thru emissions...which it will not pass...but if you have 7500 miles on it they consider it used and will waive emissions. I know this because I've had to put a bunch of miles on my 250 just so I can sell it in california. They are trying to keep people from going to other states to buy vehicles (cheaper) and then coming back to register them here. You STILL have to pay sales tax...but it is a little cheaper for a used vehicle.

You would not belive all the crap they make you go through to get the bike plated for CA. DG is trying to get hers done and its crazy how hard they make it. Unless it has the miles like DG said it will not pass inspection due to the lack of emissions stuff on the bike for CA. not only do we pay the most for gas but we have to deal with C.A.R.B andthey suck.

URA did you just move here or did you buy the bike from out of state and bring it here?

I bought the bike from out of state. I was thinking about putting up dealer plates but it wont fly here in cali.
the bike needs to look brand new. I got pulled over several days ago, the cop thought the bike was an 07 so it might work. I got it towed, well I got it back but I had to drag the old owner in order for them to release it to me, he lives about 400miles away from me, he was pissed.
Any one with close mileage please help me out,
if you are not willing to give up your odo,
can I rent it ill cover all the charges, and throw in some extra cash.
Im in Sacramento, the tags still valid till september, but I dont want to risk it, Beacuse Im sure the old owner wont be coming down here again.

Sucks to hear about that man. The paper plates might be the best way. Why did the bike get towed if the reg is upto date? I bought my bike used but its a CA bike and I didn't have any problems riding around with the paper plate from the dealer.
