Default No Start...

Bike was down awhile back just started getting all the parts in to fix it.

Got a used ignition on e-bay (well where you put the key in and turn it on anyways guess that's not really the ignition but whatever)

Put a new battery in the bike as I figured this one was probably toast or close to it since the bike was sitting for awhile.

Turned the key to the on position and nothing happened. The hook up for that ignition is connected as is everything else I would imagine to be nessesary (not everything is hooked up like front lights and such but the rest of the bike is still all hooked up. I then thought just maybe for whatever reason the tach would have to be plugged in. Doubt that has effect but I figured I'd try it and again nothing happened. The damage to the bike was pretty bad but was limited mostly to cosmetics didn't look like it took to bad of a shot besides that. So my only guess at this point is that I got a bad ignition (or whatever you call where you stick the key into) but other than that I've got nothing. Anyone else have any ideas before I go buy yet another ignition (or whatever) ??

2006 ZX-6R BTW

Any and all suggestions you can come up with would be great. Either I'm tired or I've just gone blank because I can't seem to come up with any other possibilitys.

Errm forgot to mention checked the fuses in the tail. The ECU and IGN and the other 5-6 back there. All of those were fine.

Hopefully I do not double post here.

If you look in your manual first, I believe that the key, ignition switch and ecu all have to be programmed together. I am not 100% sure on the 6r though.

Errm well never mind there was one fuse I forgot about... The start relay fuse. Forgot to check that one sure enough burned to a crisp since the bike comes with a replacement right there switched it out.. Worked like a charm. Even took the bike for a few victory laps on my street (cul-de-sac) which was interesting considering the bike is completely naked... Completely. LOL No plastics no lights no nothing was an odd sight indeed but been along time coming and I am glad to be among the riders again lol... Now to just get a set of fairings... Anyone got a spare set LMAO.

Bro, I took my bike out 3 weeks ago, no problems. Last week went to crank it up, no luck. my tach was wiggin out and lights were crazy dim. Wierd cuz i just replaced the batt like 8 months ago and keep it charging every night. Today I tried again, got nothing. not a click, no life at all accept for my neons which turn on independently. Tested the batt, 12.8 volts. checked all my fuses, everything looks good. But wtf can it be then? Mind you I'm not very mechanically inclined but on the plus side I'm a quick learner. Anyhow I came across your post and realized something. Yea I checked all my fuses before checking online and then I read "the bike comes with a replacement right there", dude I had to kick myself in the ***. When I checked that fuse I checked the spare and didnt realize it was a spare. Thought it was odd that it was sitting in rubber and not plastic. Sure as !@#$ though I found the actual fuse, burnt to a crisp, replaced it and now I'm off for a quick ride but not before I registered on this site to thank you. thanks bro.
