You could alway get a lowering link for the rear suspension. I think they lower it around and 1". That way you don't have to mess with the seat at all.

Your Wife will be very happy with the 636. I have been on Italian V twins for the last 5 years and my friend said it would be hard to get used the powerband of a small cc, high redline bike. Well, the 636 does pull well in the lower rpms, enough power to make brake in really fun in the tight twistys. There is also enough power to please those doing track days.

The suspension on the 636 is perfect for my 200 pound body weight, so you will most likely have to respring the bike.

Good luck,
Mike

The lowering link is a good idea but it has its draw backbacks. You have to lower the front an equal amount and loose ground clearance. It's a really thick seat and if I can get an inch from there I think she'll be fine.

Greenteam, thanks that the info I've been looking for. As long as she doesn't have to constantly down shift she'll have fun riding it. I plan on respring the suspension for her which sucks because then I wont be able to ride it (185 lbs).

Yeah I'm intrested in the ZX6R also, I was wondering if this bike is bigger compared to all the other 600's(R6,CBR600RR,GSX-R600)? One of my friends rides a 2002 R6 and he told me that the ZX6R is bigger then his bike. I'm asking because I'm 6'1" and my weight is close to 200lbs, and I would like a bike that fits better, but don't want an 1000 as a first bike. BTW Sorry I didn't mean to jack your thread DoubleAA.

he wasnt referring to the size of the bike overall he was referring to the engine. it is a 636cc engine not a 599cc engine like in other 600's i sat on the i sat on all the 05 bikes while i was looking around and all the 600's (including the 636) are pretty much the same size.

I am a female rider and my first bike is my 05 636r. I absolutely love it!! In first gear it has a lot of power. I have a friend with an 05 r1 and I can get him off the line.

I am also a small person. I am 5'3 and about 120lbs. I have the lowering links that have the three settings. If you decide to lower the bike it can be adjusted to her preference (the bottom hole being stock setting). I also had to adjust the forks but it was well worth it. I love to ride corners and I can still keep up with the best of them so lowering my bike one notch wasn't a drastic change (about 1' if that).

The only time I have to worry about bottoming out is when I go over those small skinny speed bumps. But taking them at an angle or simply going around them solves the problem.

Well, I bought the black 636 for her a couple of weeks ago. I shaved the seat about 1 1/4". It is still conforable and it came out looking really good. I then set the sag which is OK for now but I'll need to get lighter spring in the near future, she's 115lbs. She still can't stand flat footed with both feet , but it'll work. We rode the canyons around Malibu. and when we stopped she had a smile from ear to ear. She said this bike is perfect. She never said that about her Superhawk. So under the tree is Alpinestar leather pants, Icon jacket, Alpinestar boots and gloves, smoked Euro turnsignals, brake light and Puig windscreen. Next month is her first track day at the Street of Willow with her new bike. It should be a blast.
