NEED HELP!!! Motor making noise
ok so ive got an 04 zx6r/636. Basically stock. Acropovic slip-on. Secondary butterflies removed and lowered ALOT!
k. so i took it to a local drag strip yesterday.. no exhaust just open header. ran it probably 8-9 runs (1/8th mile)...it ran GREAT ran a 6.96 @ 108.
heres where the problem starts. went riding tonight and the motor starts making this loud ticking noise but its not like a valve tick it sounds more like a bolt rattling around in the motor. and it only does it randomly like if u are just cruisin at a low rpm and roll on the throttle it does it. i have no clue what it could be. i came home pulled the tank, airbox, and all that and looked at the valves and the #1 and #4 cylinder vavles seem to have alot of oil on them??? not sure what this could mean/be... but the bike still has all the power it did before???? what the heck is going on????
someone please give me some advise or something so i can figure out wtf is going on. NEED HELP PLEASE

welcome to KF jdm. running these bikes with exhaust off is not good. check your oil and see if it's cloudy. i know running with out a exhaust can crack head gaskets. a compression check might be good too.

i would do a compression test my friend, theres a reason bikes come stock with a muffler, you need some type of back pressure because in time you will ruin your valves inside your motor but nice pass man, how much do you weight & what rpm was you shiftin at ? what was your 60ft, 330ft on that 6.96 pass

well i found out what the problem was.... spun rod bearing... so i pulled the motor out and got one out of an 03 636 and stuck it back in and im back on the streets.
well the track i went to was a sh*tty track and all they tell u is ur reaction, mph, and time. i was shifting around 16. theres nothin like beating stretched bikes on a stock wheelbase bike and lookin at their faces...priceless. thanks for the help
oh and i weigh about 130..ima lil guy. built for draggin!
