dumb mechanics drilling carbs makes me think you may be looking for a new used carb soon
Hi Kohburn,
he's not drilling the carb, just the jets...make it bigger in sizes as he didn't have the bigger jets replacement - Guess a shortcut than having to change with a proper OEM jet kit.

hi all... I got the dynojet stage 1 kit, and already installed according to the instruction... I got better performance on 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear...but all the way up to higher speed..the problems of choking, surging run were still there... tried to follow the troubleshooting guide from the kit, and put the e-clip on 2nd position, installed the #144 mainjets...still same problems... Last I duct taped more than half of the airscoop and it runs way better now... Then i assume this is still the lean problems...but how can I fix this? other than closing the airscoop? is it my carbs that's not in good condition anymore??
thanks a lot!

I would clean them, and then have them sync'd... Check for vacuum leaks too. I just noticed today that I forgot to tighten down the carb tubes to the manifold... Good luck.

Getting nervous now with my bike, I changed the carbs, got it from ebay and said pulled from a running bike and it should perform well.
Installed on my bike yesterday, and the problems were still there....the same problems...[:@] - Thought like I spent money for buying carbs for nothing now...
Can get it better with only closing 1 of the air scoop... what's wrong my bike? I don't think it's carbs problem now because the 2 carbs have same result.
Bad sparkplugs?bad fuel (well I noticed the inside of my tank is rusting...)?
thanks...and waiting for any suggestions from all of you zx6r expert

Be nervous, closing one scoop is not going to help you. ie, no ram air! Basic carb thinking is necessary.

Did you install the jetkit in the new carbs? If not, do that. Try going up on the main jet size too. Maybe when he tuned up the bike, he may have timed the cams wrong also. They may be off a tooth or 2 especially if he didn't know what he was doing. Sound like you need to start checking all the basic stuff; everything the mechanic messed with.
