Default may pick up a zx6r

So there's a beautiful 02 zx6r for sale north of me. Yellow, new tires, Yoshi, never dropped, 15K on the clock, current asking price is 3900 for me. No steering damper on the bike.

Right now I'm riding an 87 EX500A and my prev. bike was an 05 Ninja 500R I rode for maybe eight months. I have clocked maybe 4000 miles total on 500 series Kawis.

Besides getting used to a different riding position and respecting the 120hp in a bike the same weight (or lighter) than my current 50hp beater, any advice or notes on these bikes? Are they wobbly? I take it pretty easy in the corners...

Thanks.

The ZX6R's of that series 1997 to 2002 and the ZZR600'sare supposed to be excellent bikes for both power and comfort. Great handling too. Check around for the price/ Value of that bike. Make him an offer. I was going to buy a 1997 for $2500.

No steering damper on the bike.
once the ride is set up for you, the training wheels will not be necessary 9 times out of 10.

Thanks everyone. The bike should be in my possession this Sunday. With 15K on the clock, what weight oil should I use, 10w40? (he's running Motul syn blend and I guess I'll stick with that). The bike has an o-ring chain, so I can use Maxima Chain Wax, correct?

Thanks.

You can go Motul full synthetic and chainlube. You can use the chainwax too. I like to use stuff that doesn't fling off.

10W40 is good and recommended unless the engine is totally worn out which it isn't with 15,000 miles.
