Default making race plastics into street?

I seen in SSB that they made a set of race plastics into street by cutting the light out. was curious if this would be an easy thing to do such as cut the hole and then line it all up or would it be much more difficult than that. i found a set of plastics for $589 for everything.

Just curious just how hard this would be?

Surely it can be done but haven't hear of anybody doing it personally. Seems like a difficult job, one wrong cut and bam! junk....Maybe start with the race tail and go from their that would be cool.

Most Race "Plastic" isn't Plastic; it's fiberglass so if you can work with fiberglass, it's easy to fix mistakes and you can do a lot of custom stuff like lights etc. I think I saw that issue of SSB. Was it the R1 you saw?

That r1 is bad ***! I am actually workin on doing that modification to my bike. Ive seen one other guy on a different forum that had it done, and it looks amazing. If you want to check out my pictures in the gallery, I have made my race plastics street legal, I just don't like my current headlight set up. The hole for the light to mount would be easy to drill out, and it would be fairly simple to bondo and cat hair everything in so it's sturdy and smooth, the only part I am struggling to figure out is how to mount the light in the hole and still have the light be adjustable

It does restrict some air flow but I'm of the opinion that unless you're rompin well over 100 mph a lot it's not really going to effect your power or cooling. I could be wrong on that though, but I havent had a problem with it

The stock mounts are molded into the tail section for the brake light. At leats on the 05-06 thay are. But they are many types of custom lighting you can use for the brake light.
