Default A little bit of help with Troubleshooting!!!

Hey guys, recently my battery went dead so I bought a charger and hooked it up the night before last until it gavesign of a full charge(green light display on charger). So I come home yesterday to take it for a spin and the bike keeps stalling while riding when I come to a stop. I came back home and charged it all night and turned it on this morning and it will idle good for a couple of minutes and then turn off. I think I need a new battery ....any suggestions?

If the battery is junk it will not hold a charge which would explain why it keeps dying after a night's charge... I'd try that before doing anything... If you do get a new battery just make sure you charge it fully... Also if the new battery wouldn't help just return it [sm=wootwoot.gif]

Do a load test on the battery. 3x the rated amp hr for 15 seconds. If less than 28volts, time for a new battery. (This is after the second time of a complete charge of the battery).

Check all your battery connections for good clean contact and good grounds. If the battery is good, it's most likely corroded contacts (Battery to terminal connections) or a faulty charging system.

sounds like your battery took a crap, mine did the same thing and it wouldnt hold a charge for nothing. when you get a new battery, pick up a battery tender as well, that way when your not riding, it will stay up and you wont have anymore issues. mine would start and id make it to the end of the driveway before it died. hit up jt at www.bikerperformance.com and he will hook you up.

Even a new bike with a new battery can have corroded terminals. Doesn't take much; just loose connections and the corrosion starts. A thinlayer of filmbuilds up that prevents good current flow.I always take a wire brush or sandpaper to the mating surfaces of the terminals & posts to make sure it has the best contact. As for battery recomendations: Yuasa but you can get an Interstate battery with a pro-rated warranty.

Yes, Autozone will charge and test it free for you too. I'd get it checked before buying a $75 battery just to make suremayisn't the problem.
