Installed brake light/turn signals...(RANT)
I bought the Clear Alternatives integrated brakelight / turn siganls.
I went to install the thing and was sorely disapointed.
Overall the product is pretty decent. It ended up working good and looks great.
The brakelight wiring was simple, just plug the wiring harness into the product...piece of cake.
The turn signals were a total different story. They didnt come with a plug to install into your factory wiring harness. Not a big deal, the kit did come with decent wire splicing connectors.
What pissed me off first was the fact there was no instructions provided with the product.
I was even more pissed when I went to the CA website and was only able to find some half-assed very generic assembly instructions.
But what happened next put me over the top, I just about exploded!! I got everything wired up and was ready to put the bike back together. I found the turn signals did NOT provide enough excess wiring to reach the factory wiring harness when properly placed in the bike.
The turn signal wire was about 2 inches short. When I put the brake light into the rear fairing it pulled the wire apart and disconnected itself.
I ended up having to go to an auto parts store and buy extra wire and electrical tape. Luckly I already had the correct in-line connectors, and a crimping tool to finish the job, or it would have been even more expensive.
This caused me more than nessessary stress, time, and an additional $10.00 to install.
Clear Alternatives will definitly be hearing from me!!

I agree they do come with $hit for directions. When I installed mine I cut the connections from the turn signals, and used the factory wire, and connectors. I ended up having to coil some of the CA wire, and zip-tie it. I'll look to see if I took a pic of how I did it.

I love my CA integrated lights,My only problem was that I had to sand down the harness plug.
I don't remember having any issues with wire length. I do agree the instructions that came with the kit were garbage, but with a testing light I figured which wire was the positive, and the rest was just crimping butt-connectors.
Well, at least the taillights are on and your rear-end is super clean! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I just finished version 1.0 of my 03-04 integrated taillight and almost done with version 2.0 on the one that BigO sent me. I'll post pics as soon as they're both done for a comparison and maybe a poll. I'm gonnatry iton the 05-06 taillight also. Stay tuned..............
Man, they sure made it hard to open an 05-06 TL.

i still havent reinstalled mine. i didnt even get to the turnsignal part. after comparing the even-ness of plastic and quality to stock...i decided to leave it out.
now that i think about it ,one thing i did notice is the brake lights didnt work when plugged in. i wasnt about to splice into my factory connectors at that point.

this may sound like a dumb question, but here goes...
Did you connect the harness all the way? That was my problem, so I sanded it down a bit to make sure it slid all the way down

i am sure it would work if i gave it half a chance. not doubting it's functionality. one day down the road i will give it another try. it is my backup in case my stock piece gets broken...GOD FOREBID...hehe
until i go slipon i am going to keep the ugly stock turn signals.
i do wish the CA piece had a little bit better grade plastic.

When i first installed mine I had that problem. So make sure all of your pins are straight. That is what was wrong with mine. As soon as I restraighten the pins it was good to go.
