Well, well, well......congratulations ghost_dog!! That is one heck of a nice shiny new bike! Keep us posted on how you like it. I know a few people who are looking into the 14 for the touring aspects, so I'm curious to see how you like it.

Again, Congrats!!!

That is one mean lookin mama... Congrats on the big plunge! It's gotta feel good knowing you won't see many of those on the road... at least not until they start making 4 liter bikes, and then everyone will say how the 14 is a great beginner bike...

Update: Kawasaki did not charge me enough for this bike. I got way too much bike for what I paid ($12,600 OTD). This is the absolute most amazing bike I have ever ridden. Aside from being insanely fast, it's a light and effortless ride. The acceleration is smooth and steady, with excellent shifting that is like butter with seemless transition from gear to gear. This bike is as much supersport as it is touring with no compromise in either area. It brakes quick and handles really well. Right now the suspension is a little too soft for my weight, so I expect the handling to improve even more once I have it adjusted a bit and replace the Battleaxe BTO14's with some Pilot Power's (or better). Not to say anything bad about the stock tires...I would just feel more confident is something a little more sticky. Going from the loud exhaust of my Arata slip-on on my 636 to the stock exhaust on the 14 was a big change. Being a commuter I like cagers to hear me coming when I'm splitting lanes. Still I'm pretty impressed with how quiet the motor can be at crusing speeds in 6th gear. It's almost like an electric motor at that point. I guess that's a cool thing for a touring bike. But if you want this beast to sound the way it performs, you'll probably want to go with an aftermarket. I think I'll stick with the clean look of the stock exhaust for now. I really have no complaints about this bike. If I really had to come up with one complaint, it would be so minor that I wouldn't even call it a complaint....more of an enhancement recommendation. The enhancement would be a change in the design of the seat cowl. As you may already know, the ZX-14 has a banana seat (like the K1200). The seat cowl fits over part of the banana seat to give it more of a supersport look. Great idea, I think. However, what I don't like about it, is that you must lift the entire banana seat off and then unscrew the seat cowl from underneath with 4 phillips head screws. The seat itself removes easily (just like the trunk of a 636). I just wish they somehow designed it so the seat cowl clicked on and off in a similar way. Hey, but I'm not a motorcycle engineer, so I'm sure they did it that way for a reason. They probably figure most people aren't going have passengers, but I'm going to want to take my wife for rides from time to time. Still, no big deal.

Well that's my input on the ZX-14. I am 100% satisified with it so far...and will probably be 110% satisified once I have the suspension tuned a bit. =o)
