Default I took the plunge!

I love my 636...great bike. Quick on the track and handles like its on rails. However, in a year of having my 636, I was on the track only once. I'd like to go more often, but it's just not gonna happen. So at 6'0" 230lbs, using my 636 primarily for commuting started to lose it's appeal.

So, I was going to get the ZX-10....drool drool! Damn fine bike! But I know that after a month or two, I'll want to replace the exhaust...maybe throw in a power commander. Then, well I'll replace the levers with some shortys and pick up a set of chromed rear sets. Before I know it, I'm shopping for new suspension or magnesium wheels. Before long, I'll have a $14,000 commuter bike ready for the track that I'll probably never see.

Then I started reading about the ZX-14...

A 1352cc super sport...? Come on...that's just ridiculous! Then curiosity started getting the better of me, and I kept looking at the pics on Kawasaki's web site and reading more and more about this bike. Hmm...sure it's a 197hp dragster, but it's also a sports tourer, right? I read about how smooth the acceleration was, how smooth and steady the ride and handling was, and of course how powerful it was. Low and behold, I found myself calling around to different Kawasaki dealerships inquiring on when they expect to get some in the show room. I wanted to see it! In February they told me in March. In March they told me in April. Late April comes and no ZX-14. Then as I was leaving Chapparel Motorsports in San Bernardino (CA), a black ZX-14 comes pulling in. Holy ----! Wow, this bike nice! This bike is huge! It's sleek in black with the chrome logo's, chromed pipes, and quad head lights. One of these best looking stock bikes I have ever seen.

So, uh...well...I kinda picked up the black one today. =)

What a fine fine machine! I've only ridden it about 45 miles this morning from the dealership straight to work. I haven't opened it up, but I can already feel how sick this bike is. I don't need to open it up to feel the sheer power that this thing has. I think I'm gonna love it! Pics are on their way...once I get her home! What's my rationale for choosing this bike? It's heavy, solid, powerful, comfortable sports tourer, which is great for commuting, while still having the agressive look and feel of a super sport. It also get better gas mileage than my 636 (go figure). It needs no modifications in performance nor look in my opinion. I'll leave this bike just the way it is.

So why am I posting about a ZX-14 on the ZX-6R message board? Well, it's because although I'd like to keep the 636, I can't pull it off right now. It's one or the other, so I'll be selling it. Here's a little info about my 636...I'm in the SoCal area. If anyone is seriously interested or know someone who is, let me know on this post and I'll check back, then somehow make contact arrangments.

Hey, thanks guys.

The ride home was shweeeet!! Here are some pics. Check out the heads up display. You can toggle between average gas mileage, range before empty (like many new cars), it has a gear indicator, gas mileage gauge F thru E (not just a gas light), trip A and B on the same display and a clock.

The rear seat cowl comes off for a full size seat. I took my wife for a spin already. And get this...the rear view mirrors...you can actually see behind you without moving from side to side. LOL! I'm just stoked!

The acceleration and ride are so smooth. Shifting is like butter...soft and smooth. Lovin' it!
