I think I might of srewed up my engine???
Ok so I did my oil change and everything worked out fine thanx for the advise. Ok, now heres my issue. as I was buying my oil (half syn & mineral), I told the guy at the stealership i was riding my bike with no oil, well no oil in the glass window. He said I prolly screwed up my engine, possible ready to detinate. he assured me a screwed it up most likely. He was like was it making any funny noises. Well I thought abotu it and it sounded and ran different with no oil.
So i drained the oil and it filled up a whole paint roller pan. Now i went riding down the street tonight and im freakign out cause im all paranoid. I here like some noise comign from my engine, dont know how to describe it but maybe i am just paranoid. because the thing is, right now I am riding without fareings because im going to clean them this weekend. So maybe it just sounds different without the fareings on, like engine noise is more noticable obviously. So I cant tell cause I need to put the fareings back on.
Ok, so my neighbor was over, he rides a triumph cruiser. I told him the story and he was like youll be fine because look how much oil is in the pan. ALso I do not ride much at all only to school and that takes 5 minutes. So my neighbor was like that isnt even enough time make ur engine heat up, youll be fine he says. But the guy at the stealership was like if u have no oil in the glass window ur going to prolly need to rebuild the engine ($1000). Now I dont know if he was just trying to scare me or whatnot, but I need to put the fareings back on this weekend to really give it the test. What do you guys think about this?? I need some anxiety realief

Take it out and let her warm up, then run her hard. You'll know soon enough if the stealership was right nor not... I would bet my money on they are wrong in this case...Being low on oil, and running dry are two different things...

kill yourself !! j/k if you put oil in it and ran it, then its obviously not seazed up or anything. best bet is to put it togather and go run it. if you hear a dry sounding motor, knocking, then panic. untill then go ride.

Stop worrying!
Unless you had no oil in it at all, you don't have anything to worry about. A motorcycle can run with as little as 1 1/2 quarts of oil because the oil pan is deep and narrow and the oil pick-up is at the very bottom. that will provide enough lubrication oil but may not be enough for oil cooling. A good friend of mine raced with less than 2 QTs of oil in his bike just to save weight and prasitic/ windage drag on the clutch and he won the #1 plate in the AFM. His name was John (Flying) Fryer. So your engine is fine. the extra noise you hear is just from the engine thats not being shielded by the fairings. Hope that makes you feel better. Another trick to get rid of engine noise; especially cam chain noise is to put your bike in a higher gear with it off and rock it forward in gear. This removes slack from the cam chain and the self adjusting tensioner will take up the slack.

Thanx guys you relieved my anxiety. Im going to give the fareings a nice wash and scrub to make up for the neglect, she'll be happy.
Another question, the air filter is a BMC race filter, and I only drive street, should I take off the gas tank and clean the filter, I have filter cleaner somewhere Is there a link on how to do this???

i wouldn't worry about it too much man. it would be a totally different situation if you would have ran it dry, but thats not the case. the dude at the stealership didn't know what the heck he was talking about.[sm=forgetit.gif]

Actually bro you probably ruined it and now your fcked.
I will however be willing to give you 500.00 bucks for her so it is not a total lose for you.
Take the blue pill, put the fairings back on and you will be fine.
